Colloidal Silver Heals Leg Ulcers

Click here to learn how to make colloidal silver
Leg ulcers are one of the most painful and problematic of medical issues.  They’re described in the medical literature as “wounds, injuries or open sores on the legs that will not heal or that keep returning, and that may become severely infected.”

While leg ulcers often start out as small cuts or wounds, healing can be exacerbated by a variety of factors including diabetes, poor circulation of blood in the veins, arterial disease, kidney failure, high blood pressure, fluid buildup, inflammatory disease, and more.  When that happens, the wound refuses to heal, and instead, gets worse.

Indeed, chronic leg ulcers can (and often do) become infected by bacteria, often resulting in green, foul-smelling discharge from the ulcer site and red swollen skin around the ulcer itself that in severe cases might even turn brown or black from infection.

But here’s the good news:  It’s been known since 400 years before Christ that silver helps heal ulcerations of the skin – including leg ulcers – often stopping infections in their tracks and even helping the wounds heal, close up and disappear.

Here’s the straight scoop you won’t find anywhere else…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…

Hippocrates, the “Father of Medicine,” taught that silver aided skin and tissue repair.  Indeed, around 400 B.C. in his treatise “On Ulcers,” he listed silver, in powder form, as a primary treatment for ulcerations of the skin.

Likewise, Pliny, the Elder, in his great work, Natural History (78 A.D.), reported in Book II, Section XXXV, that the “residue of silver... has healing properties as an ingredient in plasters, being extremely effective in causing wounds to close up..."

But let’s leap ahead to more modern times:

In a Scandinavian study conducted in 1963 titled “Preoperative Treatment of Leg Ulcers with Silver Spray and Aluminum Foil,” researcher Knut Haeger wrote about treating infected leg ulcers with “colloidal silver spray.”  He stated:

“Sixteen patients with leg ulcers were treated with a colloidal silver spray. The solution was applied once daily for the first few days, then twice weekly. The infection subsided in all cases.

After instruction, patients performed the therapy at home without supervision. No discomfort or side effects were observed. There was no persistent discoloration of the skin that could be attributed to silver. In all cases the infection subsided.”

In a 1977 study, titled “A Trial of Silver-Zinc-Allantoinate in the Treatment of Leg Ulcers,” long-time antimicrobial silver researcher Harry W. Margraf, Ph.D., and Thomas H. Covey, Jr., M.D., discovered that silver and zinc incorporated into an ointment worked wonders for leg ulcers.  They wrote:

“Three hundred thirty-nine of 400 chronic cutaneous ulcers in 264 patients (including some with multiple or bilateral ulcers or both) were healed with silver-zinc-allantoinate cream (AZAC 1%).

Some of the patients treated had failed to respond to medicated wrappings, saline dressings, and various other therapeutic agents, including antibiotics.

In one week of treatment with AZAC 1%, bacterial counts were reduced on the average from approximately 2 × 107 to 2 × 105 [i.e., 99% reduction].

Silver-zinc-allantoinate cream also demonstrated a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity. It did not give rise to resistance by the infecting organisms, was nonallergenic, debrided necrotic tissue, and stimulated healthy granulation.

Treatment was well tolerated, side effects being limited to a burning sensation in three patients. Most patients cared for themselves at home with minimal interference in their usual daily activities.”

And in another study, published in the French journal Phelbologie in December 1989, a prescription silver-based cream known as silver sulfadiazine (normally used for burns) was used on leg ulcers.  The researchers wrote:

“Silver sulfadiazine, in cream form, has been mostly used in the treatment of burns. Its trial in the treatment of leg ulcers has been satisfactory.

This preparation is well tolerated, and effective on wound cleansing and granulation tissue formation. It is particularly indicated in cases of superinfected ulcers, effective on most Gram + and Gram - bacteria.”

And according to the Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, Volume 33, Number 7, 627-634, May 25, 2006:

Silver products have been used for thousands of years for their beneficial effects, often for hygiene and in more recent years as antimicrobials on wounds from burns, trauma, and diabetic leg ulcers

Silver sulfadiazine creams (Silvazine and Flamazine) are topical ointments that are marketed globally. In recent years, a range of wound dressings with slow-release Ag compounds have been introduced, including Acticoat, Actisorb Silver, Silverlon, and others."

Indeed, over the past decade, many medical doctors have switched from using silver-based sprays and creams to using silver-based wound dressings composed of fabric that’s impregnated with either microscopic silver particles or silver thread. And these too have proven to be remarkably effective at healing leg ulcers and other chronic wounds. To learn more, see the following clinical overview:
A 2002 study on the effects of antimicrobial silver on extremely severe diabetic leg ulcer wounds was published in the journal NeuroRehabilitation by Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York.

Dr. Becker found that silver nylon wound dressings that shed silver ions when used on severely infected wounds triggered dramatic healing in six insulin-dependent diabetic patients who were on the verge of having amputations due to the severity of their chronic infected wounds.

According to the study:

“Nine cases of chronic infected wounds non-responsive to standard therapy were treated with the application of silver nylon alone.  Six of the cases were in insulin dependent diabetics with severe peripheral neuropathy and varying degrees of impaired peripheral circulation.

Four of the diabetic cases were serious enough to have had amputations advised as a last resort, or to have had prior amputations done for identical lesions on another extremity.

One case was in a patient with severe peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology.  Two cases were traumatic wounds in otherwise normal patients.  Both had also been advised amputation by the previous treating physician.

In all cases infection control was achieved in 3 to 7 days and all treated wounds healed with restoration of all local tissues to their normal state.  Times to full healing varied from three weeks to three months depending upon the extent of the initial condition.”

In other words, silver-based wound dressings work to heal serious ulcers -- even in cases where the leg ulceration is so bad the doctors have recommended amputation.

As one leg ulcer patient recently testified online regarding the effectiveness of silver-impregnated wound dressings:

“I went through a year of leg ulcers and I had to have the dressing changed three times a week. They were using some kind of calamine lotion and it was not helping my excruciating leg ulcers.

It got to the place where my bottom leg had no skin on it and I wanted to die, I cried as though someone was throwing boiling water on my leg. I was popping strong pain killers every four hours.

I became homebound, and visiting nurses came to our home, and they replaced my regular wound dressing with a SILVER Ag patch (i.e., a silver-impregnated wound dressing). This silver medication in this new wound dressing started healing my open ulcers right away.

In 3 months my leg had healed…I asked my doctor, “Why didn't you use the silver dressings from the beginning?” His answer was that it was a costly medication and the practice he worked for did not keep in stock the Ag patches. Too costly...

He said that visiting wound nurses will use the best treatments because they want you to heal and to not be hospitalized. It's all about money...he also said there were all types of miracle medications out there that would heal patients but the cost prevents physicians from using them.

It breaks my heart that so many suffer from ulcers...if you ever get one, you can tell others that you've been to Hell. The pain is horrific…Get the word out about the silver wound dressings, so many are suffering and any med that has silver in it, works like a miracle.”

Back to the Basics

As the above individual mentioned, silver-impregnated wound dressings are often very expensive, and are also difficult for the general public to obtain.

That’s why many people have simply gone back to the basics and have used either liquid colloidal silver on their leg ulcers, or a good commercial colloidal silver gel or cream.  For example, the following colloidal silver user wrote:

“My mum's leg ulcer was cleared within two days of applying colloidal silver, after numerous other products were tried without any success. After the first application of colloidal silver there were visible signs of healing.” -- Julie R.

Another person used colloidal silver spray to accomplish similar results.  She wrote:

“I healed my 92 yr old mother's very persistent leg ulcers with colloidal silver. Her leg was severe with broken and dripping skin from knee to toes. Nothing the GP and nurses did, with compression bandages for almost two years, healed the leg.

I read about wonders of colloidal silver and gave it a go.  Within weeks there was a distinct difference. After the healing took place, a layer of scaly skin was left, but this soon flaked off after applying Argon oil twice a week.” – Trish I.

I wrote back to the above individual, and asked, “Trish, can you give us some additional details, such as how much colloidal silver you used on your mom's leg ulcers each day, what ppm, and how you applied it? It would be very helpful. Thanking you in advance for any additional details!”

She responded by saying:

“The two ulcers were about 5cm in diameter about 4 cm apart. But her entire shin, from knee to toes, was weeping and her toes were dark purple almost black with infection.  Pretty nasty.  I had nothing to lose. I had already healed up a MRSA infection in a post op hysterectomy scar on myself.

I sprayed 12 ppm over my mum's leg every other day and air dried, when nurses weren't there (they did not approve of anything other than the compression bandages). As a few weeks past the ulcers got smaller and the leg started to look normal color.

I feel sure that if I hadn't gone down the colloidal silver road, my mother who is diabetic would have had to have her toes amputated eventually. Oh and she was in horrendous pain and could not bear for the leg to be touched, but using the colloidal silver spray gave her instant relief each time.”

On the colloidal-silver-hydrosol.com website, I found the following anecdotal account of a leg ulcer being treated successfully with colloidal silver after doctor medications had failed to stop the ulcer from draining and growing larger:

“I wish I could post pictures of the wound I helped heal with the silver water. My brother began having circulatory problems after a mining accident years ago and developed an ulcer to the outside of his leg above his ankle.

This wound was extremely painful, draining large amounts of purulent drainage and it grew quite quickly. The pain was poorly managed with Dilaudid [morphine] and still it wasn't enough. The doctors dressed the wound with Inadine (iodine) and it was changed daily.

The pain following the dressing change was horrible. I convinced my brother to allow me to do dressings with the colloidal silver water and I asked him to change it daily.

The first night, he thought the dressing had fallen off while he slept because he felt NO pain. The dressing was intact. I also encouraged him to drink the silver water 4oz breakfast, lunch, dinner and before bed.

Within the first 24 hrs the redness surrounding the wound had dissipated significantly. Within a week the wound was almost closed and he no longer needed the narcotic for pain management.  He continues to drink the silver water to this day (6mths later) as a form of maintenance plan. Why mess with a good thing?”

As you can see, colloidal silver can be a Godsend for people with non-healing leg ulcers.  In the above, case, the afflicted individual used liquid colloidal silver on his painful ulcers, and also drank colloidal silver several times a day.  And the healing began within the first 24 hours.

Unfortunately, colloidal silver is also very expensive, often costing as much as $20 to $30 for a tiny four-ounce bottle that might last you only a few days, at most, while treating a stubborn leg ulcer.

Colloidal Silver and Diabetes

Is colloidal silver a reliable natural remedy for Type II diabetes?  Or will it at least help with diabetic symptoms?
Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to find a single clinical study on the use of colloidal silver as a remedy for diabetes.

Nevertheless, there are some interesting anecdotal accounts as well as some equally interesting clinical studies on the use of colloidal silver for certain health problems that commonly afflict diabetics, such as diabetic ulcers, candida yeast infections, blood clotting and more.  Here’s what I’ve discovered so far…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for www.TheSilverEdge.com...

Back in the mid-90’s I knew of a gentleman who travelled frequently between the U.S. and Russia.  And at one point he purchased 10 colloidal silver generators to take to Russia.

When I asked him why he was taking 10 colloidal silver generators to Russia, he told me the Russian Orthodox Church runs the hospitals back there, and he was taking the generators to be used in the hospitals.

He went on to say that Type II diabetes was rampant in Russia, and the doctors from the Russian Orthodox Church had discovered that in some cases colloidal silver worked wonders, allowing the Type II diabetes victim to dramatically cut back on their diabetes medication after they began using colloidal silver.

He said some patients were supposedly even cured of their Type II diabetes.

Unfortunately, after his last trip to Russia I never heard back from this gentleman again.  So while I have no reason to disbelieve him, I also have no evidence to back up his claims.

I could only conjecture at the time that the Type II diabetes patients who found benefit from colloidal silver must have had infected pancreases.  There’s no other way I can think of that colloidal silver could possibly have been of benefit except to help remediate an infection of the pancreas.

But I’m not a doctor.  I’m a natural health journalist.  And this is definitely the type of thing clinical studies need to be conducted on to be absolutely sure.

No Clinical Studies

Unfortunately, I can’t find a single clinical study anywhere in the world to back up the contention that colloidal silver would be a reliable remedy for Type II diabetes.

What’s more, since failure to take prescribed medication when you have diabetes could potentially result in death, I could never recommend anyone substitute colloidal silver for conventional medical treatment for this condition, without being under the direct care and guidance of their diabetes specialist.

Anecdotal Accounts

All that said, I’ve seen some interesting anecdotal accounts of the use of colloidal silver by diabetics.  For example, here’s an anecdotal account I found on the internet from someone who says colloidal silver helped stabilize his blood sugar levels:

I am also diabetic and after taking the Colloidal Silver my blood sugar level is now much more stable.  It would shoot up to 16-17 but now it is 6.5 -7.  The only thing that I've taken is the colloidal silver, so I know it does the job for me."

That account was from the Rapha Labs web site. Here’s another one from the Marpe Products web site:

“It was actually two diabetic friends who were instrumental in me becoming involved with colloidal silver.  One diabetic friend had a leg amputated and was told the other was also close to needing amputation, but she made a change to a raw foods diet and began to take colloidal silver.

In only a few days her body began to respond and she was able to save her leg, she believes that if she would have known about the raw foods diet and colloidal silver she may well now have two healthy legs!

Another friend who is a nurse was diagnosed with diabetes and she immediately began taking the colloidal silver.  When she went back to see her doctor three weeks later, her doctor said there had been a misdiagnosis and she had no sign of diabetes.

These are two friends who shared experiences with me and caused me to look very seriously into the benefits of colloidal silver and raw foods diet.

I can very confidently say that it would be a miracle if the colloidal silver and raw food diet DID NOT WORK!  They work extremely well together and I am amazed that more people don't know about this!”

On the other hand, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center advises against the use of colloidal silver for diabetes and other serious conditions, warning that, “Although no human clinical data support the use of oral colloidal silver, it is being promoted as a cure for AIDS, cancer, and diabetes.”

On his web site, Dr. Ray Sahelian, M.D., notes a study in which it was documented that one patient who had been using colloidal silver for diabetes for two years developed a minor case of argyria (skin discoloration from embedded silver particles) under the fingernails.

In my layman’s opinion, this indicates that the patient had been using excessive amounts of colloidal silver on a regular basis as a means of helping control his diabetic symptoms.

Indeed, in the study it was reported that the gentleman had been taking a commercial colloidal silver product at 140 ppm, which is a very strong concentration of colloidal silver for anyone to be taking regularly.

This study was apparently published in the International Journal of Dermatology, back in 2003.  Here’s an excerpt from it:

“A 65-year-old male presented for skin examination and was incidentally noted to have discoloration of the fingernails. These findings were completely asymptomatic.

The patient had been taking colloidal silver supplementation (140 ppm silver) for 2 years as therapy for diabetes.

He first noticed the onset of nail discoloration 1 year ago. His past medical history included type II diabetes and hypertension. His current medications were metformin, glyburide, and benazepril.

Physical examination revealed slate-gray discoloration involving the lunulae of the fingernails (Fig. 1). The skin, mucous membranes, and sclerae were unaffected.”

So it only took one year worth of colloidal silver usage to notice the onset of argyric symptoms.  This is another good reason why, when you have a potentially serious health issue such as diabetes, your medical specialist should be directly involved in all of your health care decisions.

Your specialist, for example, can help you compare “before and after” blood tests to see whether or not any nutritional intervention you’re using, such as colloidal silver usage, is having a positive (or negative) effect on your blood sugar, organ function or other aspects of your overall health.  And then your specialist can advise you from there.

Healing Candida Yeast Infections

Many diabetics suffer from chronic Candida yeast infections, because of their blood sugar abnormalities.  But according to anecdotal reports, when they use colloidal silver the Candida symptoms are greatly alleviated if not completely cured.

Here are a couple anecdotal reports in that regard:

"I am a diabetic, and suffer every now and then with yeast infections. I use my fine mist spray bottle at bedtime and after my shower. The itching and burning dissipates almost immediately."

-- DH, Charleston, WV

That’s a particularly interesting account, since some studies, such as this one, have found colloidal silver to be even more powerful than prescription antifungal drugs for controlling fungal infections.

Shirley Hull, who runs a health retreat in FL, recommends women with persistent or severe Candida yeast infections drink 2-4 ounces of colloidal silver in divided doses throughout the day until the Candida infection is cured.  (Should only take a few days to a week at most.)

She also recommends making a simple douche out of water and four capsules of a good, probiotic supplement such as lactobacillus acidophilus, and douching each morning or evening (whatever is convenient) to help re-establish colonies of beneficial microbes in the vaginal tract.  She says this combination knocks out vaginal Candida infections very quickly.

Finally, she recommends taking a good probiotic supplement daily during this time, and for at least a week afterwards, to help re-establish colonies of the beneficial microbes in the digestive tract so they can keep the Candida yeast from reaching infectious levels again.

Wound Healing

People with diabetes often have a hard time getting wounds to heal. But when they apply colloidal silver topically, the wounds seem to heal quickly.

Here’s a testimonial from a diabetic regarding colloidal silver and wound-healing:

"I’m also diabetic, which means cuts and scratches in the leg or feet are sometimes difficult to heal. If I get a scratch or a cut on my legs, I rub colloidal silver up and down where the wound is. The silver heals the wound twice as fast. I also use the colloidal silver for athlete's foot -- clears it up immediately."

-- Mike T., Challis, ID

And here’s another interesting testimonial on the increased wound-healing experienced by a diabetic:

"One my friends who is diabetic smashed his thumb real bad, 7 or 8 days before he got to hunting camp. It just wouldn’t heal. So we used a cotton pad soaked with colloidal silver, wrapped it up, and the very next day it had started to heal. Three days later it was healed. He takes a gallon home every year now!"

-- J.H.K., Maricopa, AZ

And here’s a testimonial from a female diabetic who says she’s no longer prone to infections since she’s started taking colloidal silver:

“Colloidal silver has made a difference in my life. I have diabetes and was prone to various infections...not so after taking the colloidal silver daily. I am so much better.”

-- Mary R.

Silver and Wound Healing in Diabetics

The use of antimicrobial silver for certain symptoms of diabetes such as wound healing seems to be backed up by sufficient clinical data.  For example, there’s this notation in the Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology:

"Silver products have been used for thousands of years for their beneficial effects, often for hygiene and in more recent years as antimicrobials on wounds from burns, trauma, and diabetic ulcers.

Silver sulfadiazine creams (Silvazine and Flamazine) are topical ointments that are marketed globally. In recent years, a range of wound dressings with slow-release Ag compounds have been introduced, including Acticoat, Actisorb Silver, Silverlon, and others."

-- Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, Volume 33, Number 7, 627-634, May 25, 2006

Diabetics are frequently afflicted with painful and chronic leg ulcers.  But according to one study a simple colloidal silver spray can help heal leg ulcers quite effectively:

“Sixteen patients with leg ulcers were treated with a colloidal silver spray. The solution was applied once daily for the first few days, then twice weekly. The infection subsided in all cases.

After instruction, patients performed the therapy at home without supervision. No discomfort or side effects were observed. There was no persistent discoloration of the skin that could be attributed to silver. In all cases the infection subsided.”

-- Haeger, Knut. 1963. Preoperative treatment of leg ulcers with silver spray and aluminum foil. Acta Chirurgica Scandinavica, 125, 32-41.

A 2002 study on the effects of antimicrobial silver on extremely severe diabetic wounds was published in the journal NeuroRehabilitation by Dr.

One case was a in a patients with severe peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology.  Two cases were traumatic wounds in otherwise normal patients.  Both had also been advised amputation by the previous treating physician.

In all cases infection control was achieved in 3 to 7 days and all treated wounds healed with restoration of all local tissues to their normal state.  Times to full healing varied from three weeks to three months depending upon the extent of the initial condition.

All diabetic cases with peripheral neuropathy demonstrated return of normal sensation, however only in the treated area and along the nerve tracts proximally and distally thereto.

Sensory loss in adjacent areas not exposed to silver ions was not relieved.  The return of sensation to the treated areas was generally complete but transitory, gradually diminishing until the area became asensate in about one year following treatment.

Despite this subsequent sensory loss in the diabetic patients, all other regenerated tissues in the treated area remained normal for all follow up times.”

Silver Relieves Blood Platelet Clumping

Interestingly, clumping of blood platelets is often a serious problem for people with diabetes, sometimes leading to heart problems and poor circulation in the extremities.

But in a study titled "Characterization of Antiplatelet Properties of Silver Nanoparticles," researchers found that:

"Silver nanoparticles also suppressed the aggregation of platelets obtained from patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Thus, significant inhibition of platelet functions with a relatively low dose of nanosilver, combined with the lack of cell lysis, raise the hope for its use as an antiplatelet therapeutic agent."

Not a Cure for Diabetes

So all of that taken together is pretty darned interesting, I think you’ll agree.  But I still haven't seen any reliable clinical data to sustain the idea that colloidal silver can help cure Type II diabetes.

My personal thoughts on the subject – strictly from a layman’s perspective -- are that in addition to colloidal silver there are a number of traditional natural substances said to benefit Type II diabetics, such as cinnamon, chromium, vanadium, ginseng, magnesium, zinc, aloe vera gel, Gymnema, and even herbal remedies such as Nopal cactus and Fenugreek.

Therefore, a good naturopathic physician with experience in helping remediate the symptoms of Type II diabetes should be consulted in determining which of these natural substances might be beneficial for a person’s particular situation, since no two diabetics are exactly alike.

And never forget to keep your medical specialist in the loop at all times so that it can be determined whether or not any natural substances being taken might conflict with your prescription medications, or cause dosages to have to be adjusted should there be a beneficial effect.

In the meantime, you can learn more about the often astonishing infection-fighting qualities of colloidal silver by clicking the link in this sentence.

Yours for the safe, sane and responsible use of colloidal silver,

How Dr. Robert O. Becker’s Pioneering Work on Silver and Wound Healing Puts the Lie to the Anti-Silver Claims of the Radical Environmentalists

Radical environmentalists seeking to force the EPA to regulate silver as a human and environmental “toxin” continuously claim that silver is harmful to human cells.

But way back in the 1970’s Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., a pioneering surgeon at Syracuse Medical University, made a startling discover after he started using electrically generated silver ions to heal severe cases of osteomyelitis, a bone infection that can open up large wounds in a patient’s flesh.

By generating silver ions directly into open infected wounds through the use of a small, battery operated colloidal silver generator operating at 0.9 volts –

-- he found that not only did the silver effectively kill the infectious microorganisms responsible for the disease, but it also triggered amazing and quite unexpected re-growth of human tissue and bone at the site of the infection.

In other words, far from damaging human cells, Becker discovered that silver caused astonishing cellular repair, resulting in dramatic healing of damaged tissues.

Becker became the first researcher to discover that electrically generated silver ions have the power to not only kill pathogens and heal infections, but also to stimulate tissue and bone re-growth.

Study Quote

Here is a pertinent quote from his study, “Effects of Electrically Generated Silver Ions on Human Cells and Wound Healing,” published in the journal Electro- and Magnetobiology 19(1), 1-19 (2000), describing what he discovered when he used small micro-currents of electricity to drive silver ions directly into damaged and infected wounds:

“A standardized technique was evolved using silver nylon fabric placed as the anode in open osteomyelitic lesions with the application of 0.9 volt DC between the fabric and a cathode of carbon-impregnated rubber.

The electrical current was provided by a simply battery-operated DC generator limited to 0.9 volts output. Initial treatments were limited to 4-hour periods twice a day.

As the bacteriologic monitoring revealed useful results and no overt local or systemic side effects were noted, the treatment time was gradually extended to be continuous, with once daily electrode removal and replacement with a new silver nylon anode.

…As the clinical study progressed, improvements in electrical generator design and the silver nylon fabric were made, with a resulting increase in antibacterial effect and the appearance of several unexpected clinical phenomena.

A profuse, sterile exudates began to appear in the wound during the second and fourth day of treatment.

Shortly thereafter it became evident that an enhancement of wound healing was occurring beyond that which could be attributed to infection control. Open cavities began to fill with abundant, healthy granulation tissue, producing rapid coverage of exposed bone surfaces.

This was followed by rapid ingrowth of full thickness, innervated skin and healing of bony non-unions. These observations have been under evaluation since 1979.”

Becker concluded his study by stating:

Exposure of normal human cells in wounds to electrically generated free silver ions results in the production of an exudate containing approximately 10-15% of cells with the same primitive morphological characteristics (as stem cells).

Healing rates in these wounds are significantly accelerated and are accompanied by enhanced healing of bone, soft tissue, nerve and skin, with replacement of missing tissues by histologically normal tissues.”

In other words, tissue damaged by the infection was repaired, and grew back normally, in the presence of the electrically generated silver ions.

In a later study, “Induced Dedifferentiation: A Possible Alternative to Embryonic Stem Cell Transplants,” Becker wrote of his results:

“Induction of local tissue regeneration in humans would best be accomplished if the patient’s own cells at the desired site could be caused to dedifferentiate into the required embryonic stem cells.

A system involving the electric iontophoretic introduction of free silver ions into human wounds for their antibiotic effect has been in clinical use since 1975.

…The technique was found to produce the regeneration of all local tissues, apparently by stimulating dedifferentiation of mature human cells.

…Both silver ion treatment methods used have been shown to be safe and lacking significant side effects.”

In short, Becker proved that even when silver ions were electrically driven straight into damaged tissues, massive healing took place as mature human cells were triggered to become healing stem cells, resulting in the complete regeneration of injured tissue!

Becker continued to carry out his work on using electrically generated silver ions to stimulate wound healing and trigger re-growth of tissue throughout the 1970’s and 80’s.

This work included the development of astonishing new methods using electrically generated silver ions to trigger the re-growth of tissues, limbs and even organs in living creatures such as rats.

Becker later published two books documenting his amazing research, including his successes using electrically generated silver ions to heal wounds and re-grow tissues and bone, as well as his research into limb and organ regeneration.

The first book, titled The Body Electric, became a national bestseller in the 1980’s, as did his second book, Cross Currents.

Both books are highly recommended for anyone wanting to know more about the astonishing regenerative capabilities of electrically generated silver ions in regards to tissue growth and wound healing.

Environmentalist Flim-Flam

Were Becker alive today, he would probably roll his eyes in disgust at the environmentalist flim-flam taking place, in which silver is now being cast as a “dangerous toxin” to human and animal cells and tissues.

Neo-Luddite environmentalists who seek to remove silver-based products from the market and have them regulated as “dangerous environmental toxins,” completely ignore Becker’s studies --

-- because they demonstrate beyond any shadow of a doubt that even when silver ions are slowly generated directly into a wound site, on a constant basis, for days on end, there are no apparent toxic effects.

As Becker noted in the study excerpt above, “…no overt local or systemic side effects were noted…” and “the technique was found to be a useful and safe clinical treatment.”

And as Dr. Becker would later state regarding his unique treatment method:

"All of the organisms that we tested were sensitive to the electrically generated silver ion, including some that were resistant to all known antibiotics…In no case were any undesirable side effects of the silver treatment apparent."

Yet the radical environmentalists who are out to have silver products – including safe, natural colloidal silver -- removed from the market place and hyper-regulated by the EPA as dangerous environmental “toxins”…

…continue to claim that silver is so toxic it is now “killing the planet” and causing “climate change.”

Hmmm.

Who should you believe? Hyperbolic environmentalists who latch onto the silliest ideas to promote their far-flung theories? Or a bona-fide man of medical science with direct hands-on experience using silver to heal wounds and save lives?
