Food poisoning is
usually one of the most painful ailments you can ever suffer through.
And to me, the worst
part is the feeling of utter helplessness that engulfs you as you either lay
there writhing in severe pain, or end up hovering over the porcelain throne
while throwing up, or sitting on it for hours on end too darned scared to get
off it due to the explosive diarrhea.
But colloidal silver
has saved my rear (pun intended) from nasty bouts of food poisoning more than
once over the past 20 years. And it did
so once again just a few short weeks ago, after I ate some raw honey that was
apparently contaminated with a food poisoning bacteria.
Here’s how I handled
the situation, with colloidal silver…
Hi,
Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…
My
wife Kathy and I have been doing our level-headed best to eat better.
We
started shopping at Whole Foods instead of the supermarket. And we started eating organic meats and
veggies, plus more raw foods, including occasional raw honey, raw milk and raw
cheeses.
For
me, one of the perks of our new healthy food lifestyle was getting to eat raw
honey.
I
found myself using it on my toast, in place of store-bought jellies or
jams. And I’ve used it in coffee and
tea, in place of white sugar.
I’ve
even eaten it by the teaspoon when I get a sweet tooth, instead of having a
piece candy.
And
for the first two small jars worth I didn’t have a problem with it. None
whatsoever.
But
after I opened the third jar of raw honey and used some on two pieces of toast
before bedtime, I really began to wish I’d never heard of the stuff.
Worst Stomach Cramps
Ever…
After
going to bed, I woke up about six hours later with some of the most horrific
stomach cramps I’ve ever experienced.
The
pain was so bad – sharp, stabbing pain – I couldn’t even lay on my stomach.
There
was no nausea or vomiting whatsoever. Just
sheer, burning and cramping pain in the upper stomach area.
The
sharp cramps were absolutely excruciating.
And for a moment or two, I even considered going to the emergency room.
Colloidal Silver
Saves the Day (Err…Night)…
That’s
when I decided to swig a few ounces of colloidal silver. I tossed back two, one-ounce shot glasses
full of 10 ppm colloidal silver, waited 10 minutes, and then tossed back two
more.
I
went back to bed at that point, lying on my side and holding my stomach, hoping
the silver would have some effect on whatever was causing this awful pain.
After
about 45 minutes, I noticed a bit of relief from the intense cramping, so I got
up and drank two more one-ounce shots of the colloidal silver, before laying
back down.
The
next thing I knew, it was morning. I’d
slept for over six hours. And the ungodly
stomach cramping was now only slightly noticeable.
I
drank two more one-ounces shots of colloidal silver just to make sure I’d
killed off whatever nast bug had run rampant in my stomach.
And
thankfully, everything was back to normal.
It was almost as if it had never happened.
Proper Preventive Care
Afterwards
Now
my usual daily colloidal silver dosage is only one ounce of 10 ppm strength. And since I’d taken a total of eight ounces
the previous night to stop the food poisoning symptoms, I decided to forego
colloidal silver usage for a week or so.
After
all, I don’t like overloading my liver and kidneys with excessive levels of silver.
I
also decided to start taking some extra daily doses of nutritional supplements
like Vitamin E, selenium, and N-acetyl-cysteine, which experts like Dr.
Jonathan Wright, M.D. say help the body process silver efficiently and
effectively.
I
also decided to take some extra probiotic supplements, as an “insurance
policy,” so to speak, in case the overly-large doses of colloidal silver had
affected my body’s population of beneficial digestive microbes.
Other
than those precautions, which I consider essential when using
larger-than-normal doses of colloidal silver, I didn’t really think much about
my bout with food poisoning.
Indeed,
at the time, I wasn’t even sure exactly what had caused it.
I
knew all I’d eaten that night was the wheat toast with raw honey. But it just didn’t make sense to me that this
could have been the cause of the nasty bout of food poisoning, considering the
fact I’d previously gone through two other jars of raw honey without incident.
“Stupid Is As Stupid
Does”
So
just a bit over a week later, I got the sweet tooth cravings again, and decided
to try another piece of wheat toast using raw honey from the same jar.
And
sure enough, within four or five hours I was doubled over
again in painful, searing stomach cramps.
I
couldn’t believe I’d let my sweet tooth get the better of me. But the raw honey tasted so danged good, and it
was easy enough to rationalize that something else must have caused the
original bout of food poisoning.
Yes,
as the Forest Gump movie character would say, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
This
time, however, I did two things differently:
First,
I chugged down an eight ounce glass of colloidal silver immediately. I wasn’t taking
any chances. And within half an hour or
so, I was already feeling better.
And
secondly, several hours later, when the cramps had almost completely subsided, I
took about seven times the normal dose of a good, probiotic supplement
containing a grid of eight different beneficial digestive microbes.
I
figured if the colloidal silver missed any of the infection-causing bacteria in
my intestines, I wanted to make sure there was plenty of good bacteria present
to compete with the remnants.
“Competitive
inhibition” is a mostly overlooked method of stopping recurrent cases of food
poisoning in their tracks. But it really
works well.
And
of course taking the extra probiotics couldn’t hurt, in terms of helping “re-stock”
the digestive tract in case any of my body’s beneficial microbes had been
harmed by the silver.
I
want to emphasize once more that the dosages of colloidal silver I took were
egregiously high. But both times I took
those high dosages, I was doing what I felt I had to do in order to stop the
food poisoning from sending me to the emergency room.
Over
the course of the next few weeks I also once again supplemented with additional
amounts of Vitamin E, selenium and N-acetyl-cysteine, to aid my body in
processing the excess silver I’d ingested.
And
this time around, I chose to take a ten day “vacation” from colloidal silver
usage, and drink plenty of fresh pure water each day to help my body flush any
excess silver that might have accumulated from taking such a large dose.
Facts on Food Poisoning
from Raw Honey
After
all of this, I went online -- which I should have done the first time the food
poisoning struck -- and Googled for information on raw honey and food
poisoning.
And
sure enough, there it was, on the Livestrong.com website:
“You may come down
with a case of food poisoning after eating raw honey.
Raw honey is a
potential source of botulism spores, according to the National Institutes of
Health. Symptoms of food poisoning from botulism include stomach cramps,
diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever.
If you experience any
of these symptoms after consuming raw honey, you should contact your health
care provider.
In adults, these
symptoms are generally initially more uncomfortable than dangerous, but can
become life-threatening if they are left untreated.”
Err…crap…I
honestly had no idea you could get
botulism food poisoning from eating raw honey.
What’s
more, during the course of my research I also found out that raw honey made by
bees that gather nectar from flowering Rhododendron or Azalea plants can also
have a toxin in it called grayanotoxin 1.
As
little as one teaspoon of raw honey containing this toxin can cause severe food
poisoning symptoms.
All
of this information floored me, because my dad, who was raised on a farm, often
told me about eating raw honey on the farm – honeycomb and all -- right out of
the bee hive. And he never recounted any
problems with doing so.
The
Bible even talks about eating raw honey.
It was known as prophet’s food. What’s
more, I have friends who raise bees, and they tell me they eat the raw honey
right out of the beehive, as well, always without incident.
Indeed,
raw honey is eaten worldwide for its multitudes of health benefits.
The
whole idea is that raw, unprocessed honey contains all of the valuable,
health-promoting vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, enzymes, germ-fighting resins
and other beneficial natural substances that are otherwise stripped from the
honey when it’s commercially processed and pasteurized.
What’s
more, raw honey is said to contain at least 10 different species of beneficial bacteria, including six
species of lactobacilli and four species of bifidobacteria.
Finally,
raw honey is a powerful antimicrobial substance in its own right, and can be
used externally on infected wounds to reduce or even heal the infection and to
promote faster wound healing.
So
I was pretty much floored when the raw honey I’d come to love and look forward
to each day turned out to cause two serious back-to-back cases of food poisoning.
Unfortunately…
Unfortunately,
as I now know all-too-well, raw, unprocessed honey can also contain small
amounts of Clostridium botulinum –
the botulism pathogen.
And
in some cases, it can contain larger numbers of this spore-like pathogen which causes
nearly 150 nasty (and sometimes deadly) cases of food poisoning each year in
the U.S.
From
what I’ve read, the botulism pathogen can’t grow in the nectar that’s being
processed into honey by the bees inside the hive. So it appears the pathogen ends up
contaminating the raw honey after it’s been
harvested.
The
pathogen is apparently ubiquitous in the environment, but usually in small
enough numbers not to cause much of a threat.
Regardless
of when or how the contamination happens, a case of food poisoning from eating
raw honey – while quite rare, apparently – is no freakin’ picnic. It’s downright painful, even if you catch it and
start treating it early like I did, before the vomiting and diarrhea start.
I have no idea if there are other pathogens
that can contaminate raw honey and cause food poisoning. And because I didn’t go to the doctor or the
emergency room, I honestly can’t say whether or not I actually had a case of botulism food poisoning, or perhaps some
other form of food poisoning.
Here’s
what I do know, however:
I
know I never want to get another
painful bout of food poisoning like that again.
And I know that the jar of raw honey I’d been eating from is now in the
bottom of our trash can. I am not
falling for its allure a third
time.
The Good News About
Colloidal Silver!
The
good news is this: Whatever the cause of
those two bouts of food poisoning were, colloidal
silver was the solution both times.
And I’m very grateful for that.
Of
course, I’m also very grateful that I can make and store my own colloidal
silver in bulk, for just pennies per
one-quart batch, with a Micro-Particle
Colloidal Silver Generator.
If
I had been dependent upon purchasing colloidal silver from a commercial source,
the likelihood is I’d have had to wait until morning, then find someone to drive
to the health food store for me (while I continued to writhe in pain at home) to
buy several of those little four-ounce bottles of colloidal silver they sell
for $20 or $30 a bottle, and then bring them to me.
And
frankly, if that had been the case, I’d have probably ended up in the emergency
room that night, because there was just no way I could have waited until
morning for help. The burning, searing, stabbing
cramps were just too painful to deal with.
But
because I make my own high-quality colloidal silver any time I want, I already had
plenty in stock in the kitchen cabinet.
In fact, I usually have five or six quarts of colloidal silver already
made up, and stored in a cabinet at any point in time.
After
all, colloidal silver has been a lifesaver for me and my family many, many times in the past, for everything
from simple colds and flu infections, to severe bouts of bronchitis, pneumonia
and strep throat.
We’ve
also used it effectively for healing earaches, eye infections (including styes
and Pink Eye), sinus infections, allergies, cuts, burns, spider bites, pet
infections, and much, much more.
(If
you’re unfamiliar with the astonishing array of uses for colloidal silver, you
might want to take a quick look at the hundreds of real-life colloidal silver
success stories

Colloidal Silver for Less Than 36 Cents a Quart!
And
the very best part is this: You can make your own high-quality colloidal
silver for less than 36 cents a quart,
with a brand new Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver
Edge.
There’s
no longer any reason to pay those exorbitant health food store prices for
colloidal silver. And there’s no longer
any reason to ever “run out” of colloidal silver, or be without it when an
emergency crops up unexpectedly.
Indeed,
with a brand new Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge
in your possession, you can make all of the colloidal silver you want, any time you want, in the comfort and
privacy of your own home, for just a few
pennies per quart.
And
you can do so for the rest of your life!
Why
Pay a 12,000% Mark-Up?
You
see, commercial colloidal silver vendors mark-up their bottled products by some
12,000%.
Yes,
the cost of the silver in a typical, four-ounce bottle of colloidal silver is
about 12 cents.
But
commercial colloidal silver vendors usually charge $20 to $30 or more for that
tiny bottle, even though the only other ingredient in it, besides the 12 cents
worth of silver, is a few more cents worth of distilled water. That’s it!
Colloidal
silver is quite literally one of the most over-priced nutritional supplements
on the market today!
But
vendors get away with charging such exorbitant prices for colloidal silver because
it’s so darned effective at healing infections naturally.
Less Than 36 Cents a
Quart!
But
colloidal silver is not expensive at all if you make it
yourself. By making your own colloidal silver, you can always have it “at
cost,” which as I stated earlier, is just pennies
per quart.
Indeed,
your greatest ongoing cost is the steam-distilled water that’s needed to make
high-quality colloidal silver, which is usually a paltry $1.25 a gallon at your
local Walmart.
And
once every year or two, depending upon how often you make colloidal silver,
you’ll have to spend about $35 or so to buy a new set of pure, .999 fine silver
wire for your generator.
That’s
it. That’s the whole she-bang, in a nutshell. It’s just ridiculous to pay expensive health food store
prices for colloidal silver when you can make it yourself so darn
inexpensively.
