Does nanosilver harm human cells? According to a handful of the latest clinical
studies, it does.
However, there are two hidden secrets
the public isn’t being told about these new studies.
And I’m going to expose both of
those dirty little secrets for you, below, so you’ll never again be taken in by
contrived study results.
Here’s what I’m talking about…
Hi, Steve
Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…
Here's another new study in which
researchers claim to have demonstrated that silver nanoparticles cause harm to
human cells.
This is the sixth study I’ve seen in recent
years, in which researchers have drawn the conclusion that silver is harmful to
human cells. But is it true?
Like all of the recent clinical studies making
this spurious claim, what the researchers have hidden from the public is the fact the studies were conducted…
a.) in a laboratory test
tube, rather than in a real-life human body, and…
b.) on cancer cells, rather than on healthy human cells
“What’s so important about that?” you might
ask.
The Test Tube Study Scam
First of all, since there's no way to duplicate human
biology in a test tube, the studies are essentially irrelevant. They’re flawed
from the very start.
That’s because cells in the human body are
afforded a number of protective mechanisms that simply don’t (and can’t) exist in a test tube.
So all the researchers have "proven"
is that if you take cells out of their normal human environment, removing the
body's many protective defenses from the equation, you can then find some dose of silver at which the cells will be harmed.
As I've stated in previous articles on this
topic, the researchers could have done the same
study and produced the same results using
orange juice instead of silver…or Coca Cola instead of silver…or vinegar
instead of silver…or even plain, distilled water instead of silver.
Why?
Because just about any common
substance will harm human cells in a test tube, if you add enough of it. And that’s because none of the body’s normal protective processes are at work in a
test tube. Zero. Zilch.
Nada.
Cancer Cells Are
Not Normal Human Cells
What's more, there’s a second huge flaw in these studies. And it’s a gaping one: The researchers have been using cells from
human cancer cell lines.
That’s right.
Rather than testing silver’s effects on healthy human cells, the researchers tested sick, debilitated human
cancer cells.
They don't tell the public that, of course.
But here's what the researchers behind the latest study on this topic had
to say when describing
their study to other researchers in a medical journal:
"We used leukemia cells throughout most of
the study.”
In other words, the only thing the researchers behind
the current study have proven is that silver quite handily defeats leukemic cancer
cells.
You see, based on numerous past clinical
studies, silver appears to selectively target and attack cancer cells, and
leave healthy human cells alone.
See, for example, the studies here,
here,
here,
here,
here
and here,
each of which demonstrate the powerful anti-cancer qualities of silver.
In my opinion, the researchers won't do real-life
testing on healthy human cells,
because they know that unless the cells are cancerous, the study results will instead
demonstrate the proven cell-protective benefits of silver (see, for
example, here, here and here).
In other words, testing of healthy human cells
isn’t being conducted because such tests simply wouldn’t back up the hidden agenda to scare
people away from using colloidal silver and other consumer products that
contain nanosilver or other forms of antimicrobial silver.
Previous Flawed Study
You might remember that last year I examined a
different one of these spurious studies on colloidal silver and human cells
(see “Flawed
Study Says Colloidal Silver Toxic to Human Cells”).
In that examination, I demonstrated how
disingenuous the researchers were being in trying to hide the fact that they were
purposely using human cancer cells lines in the study.
In fact, I predicted at that time that we'd be
seeing a lot more of these shady
studies from researchers attempting to use cancer cells to demonize the
benefits of antimicrobial silver.
And in the past six months there have been at
least one new study per month coming out making the claim that silver
"harms human cells." And each one of these studies used cancer cell lines rather than normal
cells lines.
What’s more, none of those studies were real-life
human or animal studies. All of them
were test tube studies.
Thankfully, real-life animal studies have
already demonstrated silver to be perfectly harmless
to normal healthy cells. See here
and here,
for example.
What’s more, studies on normal healthy human cell lines (such as this
study from Sweden) also show no harm whatsoever to human cells.
Even a double-blind human ingestion safety study
conducted on real-life humans (see this
link), found no harm to human cells.
Treachery
So you can see how sneaky the researchers are
being when they come out with studies like these, claiming to have proven that
silver is "toxic" to human cells when in reality they were using cancer cells in a test tube, and not
normal human cells in a living body.
In my opinion, they’re stacking the deck against
silver by using cancer cells in their studies.
They know beforehand that silver will attack these sick cancerous cells
and destroy them. And then they can
claim – with straight faces – that they’ve proven silver is “harmful to human
cells.”
How They’ll Spin These Studies
In my opinion, what’s going to happen next is
that the recent barrage of studies claiming that nanosilver harms
human cells will be used to make the case that silver should be banned from use
in consumer products.
The perpetrators will eventually say, "We now have X number of studies proving that
nanosilver harms human cells. For the
sake of public safety, it’s time to ban the use of nanosilver from consumer
products."
In other words, they're piling up enough
negative studies until it appears that the "science has been settled"
on this issue, and they can freely push for a ban on the use of nanosilver.
So far, of the six negative studies I’ve seen
over the past half year or so, all of them were lab test tube studies
rather than real-life studies, and all of them used cancer cells.
I find it absolutely unbelievable that these
researchers didn’t know in advance that silver causes cancer cells to self-destruct.
After all, as I mentioned earlier, silver’s ability to cause cancer cells
to “commit cellular suicide” (i.e., through a process called apoptosis) is quite well-known to medical science (see here,
here,
here,
here,
here
and here).
As researchers behind one cancer study
from 2011 have stated, “Many attempts have been made to use silver
nanoparticles as an anti-cancer agent and they have all turned up positive.”
So…in my opinion it’s pretty clear the
researchers behind these most recent studies knew in advance what the outcomes
of their studies were going to be.
I believe the researchers purposely used cancer cells in order to prove that silver is
harmful to human cells, because they knew in advance cancer cells are so
susceptible to silver.
The bottom line is that as long as the
researchers don't let on about the cancer cells being used in their studies,
the general public can easily be deceived into thinking that using products containing antimicrobial silver is going to harm their normal, healthy cells.
It is, in my opinion, nothing short of medical
fraud.
But…it's no big surprise that researchers stack
the deck against silver in their studies in order to achieve the outcome
they've pre-ordained.
Indeed, this phenomena has recently caused one
prominent nanosilver researcher to chastise his fellow nanosilver researchers,
demanding that they start "doing good science" and quit letting their
biases slip into their study results (see here).
Even some of the most respected medical
researchers in the world have now admitted that much of today’s clinical research
is either faked or produced using questionable techniques (see here).
One expert, Dr. Marcia Angell, a physician and
longtime editor-in-chief of the New
England Medical Journal (NEMJ), which is considered to be one of the most
prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals in the world, makes her view of
the subject quite plain:
“It is simply no longer possible to
believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the
judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines.
I take no pleasure in this conclusion,
which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the
New England Journal of Medicine” (source)
Similarly, Dr. Richard Horton, the current editor-in-chief
of the British medical journal, The
Lancet, has stated:
“The case against science is
straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be
untrue.
Afflicted by studies with small sample
sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of
interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious
importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness.” (source)
In other
words, even medical experts agree that much of what passes for “scientific
research” these days is riddled with flaws.
I’d add that
this is especially true when the research is conducted by people who have a
vested hidden interest in demonizing safe, natural antimicrobial silver.
