Some of the most frustrating of all diseases are those which the medical community claims have “no known cause.”

Pelvic pain between the vagina and anus in women…pain between the scrotum and anus in men…chronic pelvic pain…persistent and urgent need to urinate…frequent urination, often in small amounts but dozens of times throughout the day and night… pain or discomfort when the bladder becomes full, and relief after urinating…and aggravating pain during sexual intercourse.

The MayoClinic website also claims there’s no infectious basis for interstitial cystitis. They write, “Although signs and symptoms of interstitial cystitis may resemble those of a chronic urinary tract infection, there's usually no infection. However, symptoms may worsen if a person with interstitial cystitis gets a urinary tract infection.”

While both MayoClinic.com and WebMD.com claim there’s no clear cause for interstitial cystitis, both websites say doctors have “several ideas” for what might cause the condition, including:

A problem with bladder tissue that allows substances in your urine to irritate your bladder.

Inflammation that causes your body to release chemicals that cause symptoms.

Something in your urine that damages your bladder.

A nerve problem that makes your bladder feel pain from things that usually don’t hurt.

Your immune system attacks the bladder.

Or, a separate condition that causes inflammation is, in essence, spilling over onto the bladder.

In other words, the medical community doesn’t even remotely know what causes interstitial cystitis. They suspect something causes irritation to the bladder lining, with corresponding inflammation. But they’re sure it’s not an infection.

Hmmm. I can remember not too long back when doctors were sure ulcers weren’t caused by infections, also – until, that is, a pair of medical researchers from Australia discovered the H. pyloria pathogen and deciphered its role as a cause of peptic ulcers.

With Interstitial Cystitis?

Contradicting both WebMD.com and MayoClinic.com, the RegenerativeNutrition.com site recommends colloidal silver for victims of interstitial cystitis, stating it will “…gradually eliminate infections such as candida, mycoplasma and other known or unknown infections that are almost always present and contribute to Interstitial Cystitis.”

Why did colloidal silver seem to work so well for this lady’s good friend? There may indeed have been an infection involved in the woman’s bladder.

Plastic Bottles for Storing Colloidal Silver

Finding bottles or other containers to store your homemade colloidal silver in can be a costly hassle if you don’t understand what works best, and why.

I generally recommend using dark glass Ball canning jars such as those shown in this article, for reasons I’ll explain below.

However, many people have written to ask me about using plastic bottles in which to store their homemade colloidal silver.

Below, I’ll briefly reveal to you a small but frustrating problem inherent in using most kinds of plastic bottles to store colloidal silver in.

And I’ll show you a simple way to easily overcome that problem and obtain some great plastic storage bottles, very inexpensively, that you can indeed use for storing colloidal silver – even for long-term storage. Here’s the straight scoop…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for The Silver Edge…

People who make their own colloidal silver (see here) know that it’s generally best to store it in dark glass containers instead of plastic containers – especially for long-term storage, meaning for months or years at a time.

The reason the containers need to be dark is because silver particles are very sensitive to prolonged exposure to bright light, which, in turn, can cause your silver particles to oxidize and fall out of suspension. They will then coat the bottom of your storage bottle with what will look like a fine gray coating of silt.

This, of course, will destroy the potency of your colloidal silver. So colloidal silver always needs to be stored in a dark container that keeps bright light out. Doing so will vastly increase the length of time your colloidal silver remains fully potent in storage.

In fact, while colloidal silver that’s been exposed to bright light for prolonged periods of time (i.e., hours at a time) might only remain fully potent for a few days or a few weeks, colloidal silver stored in dark containers can remain fully potent for many months or even years at a time.

Why Glass, and Not Plastic?

The reason your colloidal silver storage containers should not be made of plastic -- such as typical plastic water bottles, milk bottles or juice bottles -- is because plastic tends to pick up static electricity from its immediate surroundings.

The static electricity on the plastic bottle can then gradually draw your electrically-charged silver particles to the sides of the container where their electrical charge will be neutralized, causing loss of potency. Thus, when you go to use your colloidal silver, it will be far less effective than it should be.

So as you can see, storing your homemade colloidal silver in dark glass containers solves both problems, i.e., the dark glass keeps the light out, and the glass itself does not pick up static electricity like typical, commercial-grade plastic can.

Dark glass storage containers (like these decorative Ball canning jars) work great. And they can often be found on Amazon or through other online sources.

However, if all you have are clear glass containers in which to store your colloidal silver, you can always use the old “sock trick” – i.e., simply go to your local dollar store, buy a pair of men’s black socks for a dollar, and pull one of the socks up over your clear glass storage container to keep the light out.

But What If You Want to Use Plastic Bottles?

Unfortunately, as I previously mentioned, most commercial-grade plastic bottles (i.e., such as typical water bottles, or milk or juice bottles, etc.) are prone to picking up static electricity from their surroundings, over time, which can dramatically reduce the potency of your colloidal silver.

Nevertheless, plastic storage containers are often much more convenient to use than glass containers. They’re easier to travel with. And there’s far less chance of breakage if the plastic container is dropped, say, by a family member with butter fingers.

So, if you want to use plastic bottles instead of glass, here’s the simple solution: Be sure to use non-reactive, medical-grade plastic bottles.

Thankfully, non-reactive, medical-grade plastic bottles don’t pick up static electricity from their surroundings. So you can store colloidal silver in them for long periods of time, and the potency will remain high.

But finding non-reactive, medical-grade plastic bottles can be a problem, since they’re considered to be specialty items that are generally used to store liquid over-the-counter medications in.

And even if you do find some non-reactive, medical-grade plastic bottles, they’re often costly – sometimes as much as four or five dollars apiece, or even more.

The Inexpensive Secret

But here’s a little secret that experienced colloidal silver users have known about for decades:

By necessity, standard 3% household hydrogen peroxide is stored and sold in non-reactive, medical grade dark plastic bottles.

And best yet, you can generally purchase one-quart plastic bottles of hydrogen peroxide at your local Walmart or other pharmacy for under a dollar apiece.

For example, right now (June 2016), Walmart has one-quart bottles of standard household hydrogen peroxide on sale for only 88 cents apiece (see above photo).

So you can pick up five quart bottles of hydrogen peroxide for under five dollars. Then take them home, dump the hydrogen peroxide out of them (follow local safety laws for dumping liquids), wash them thoroughly in warm soapy water, and then rinse them thoroughly, several times, using pure steam-distilled water to get out any soapy residue.

Then add fill the bottles with your homemade colloidal silver and put the bottles into storage. And voila, for under a buck per bottle you’ll have high-quality plastic storage bottles for your colloidal silver that will last practically forever and will keep your colloidal silver fresh and potent until you’re ready to use it.

I like the Walmart household hydrogen peroxide bottles pictured above, because they’re square bottomed and square sided, whereas glass bottles are usually round. So I can get about 20% more one-quart bottles of colloidal silver in my storage cabinet because of the space-saving nature of using the square plastic bottles.

The Problem with Price…

Of course, if all of this sounds like too much of a hassle for you, you can always simply buy commercial brands of colloidal silver, which already come in either dark glass bottles, or in dark-colored, non-reactive medical-grade plastic bottles.

Finally, another study has demonstrated that silver has antithrombotic properties that help keep red blood cells from clotting, and that it does so without harming the blood cells.

Study: Silver Heals the Liver

From Damage Induced by Toxins

Now, researchers from the Department of Environmental Biotechnology, Bharathidasan University, India, have demonstrated in an animal study that small amounts of silver can help heal the liver damage caused by a particularly harsh liver toxin.

Basically, the study says that when researchers used a very toxic solvent known as CC1(4) to damage the livers of mice, and then gave the mice silver nanoparticles, the silver cured the mice of the vast majority of the liver damage caused by the toxic solvent.

The clinical researchers claimed in their study that at low doses, the silver "was effective in revival of all biological parameters to near normal in all intoxicated groups indicating the curing effects on CC1(4)-induced liver injury."

What’s more, the researchers attribute the amazing healing of the damaged mice livers to silver’s “strong antioxidant effect.”

I looked up the liver toxin known as “CC1(4)” in an online medical dictionary. It said this substance “is particularly toxic to the kidneys and liver; permanent damage to these organs may result from exposure."

So, this study clearly demonstrates another astonishing, but little-known healing benefit of silver.

The researchers were so enthused by their discovery they even called silver “hepato-curative," meaning they feel it cured the liver damage induced by the toxic solvent.

This study, of course, would appear to pretty much put the lie to the charge that silver damages liver function – a charge often found on orthodox medical websites in articles attempting to scare people away from colloidal silver usage.

Preliminary Results

This study should bring much hope to those suffering from liver damage induced by toxicity. Please keep in mind, of course, that the study results are preliminary, and need to be backed up by other studies.

Also keep in mind that this was an animal study, and not a human study. Human studies would need to be conducted to confirm the same benefits in human subjects.

Finally, keep in mind that this study does not mean you can do things to damage your liver, such as take toxic drugs or indulge in excessive drinking and smoking, eat bad foods, etc., and expect silver to heal the damage being caused to the liver on an ongoing basis.

And perhaps most importantly, please keep firmly in mind that very small doses of silver were used on the mice in this study. Why is that so important?

It’s important because overly-large dosages of colloidal silver, taken on a regular basis, for long periods of time, can actually put more stress on a damaged liver or damaged kidneys, since those are the main organs through which silver is processed and eliminated from the human body.

So, theoretically speaking, overly-large ongoing dosages of colloidal silver could have the opposite effect of what researchers found in the study.

After all, there’s no substance on the face of the earth, no matter how healing it might be in small, common-sense dosages, that’s completely safe to use on a regular ongoing basis at overly-high levels.

This is one reason why I always advocate for the safe, sane and responsible usage of colloidal silver.
