Colloidal Silver, Cystic Fibrosis and Lung Disease

Colloidal Silver, Cystic Fibrosis and Lung Disease

In the excerpts below from a medical study published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine (2008: 101: S51–S52. DOI 10.1258/jrsm.2008.s18012)we see some very strong evidence indicating that colloidal silver may turn out to be a successful treatment for the debilitating chronic lung infections associated with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

In this particular case, a young boy was first diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age two, and over the ensuing nine years grew worse and worse in spite of intensive medical treatment.

By the time he was 11, physical exertion left him struggling for breath due to the severity of his lung infection and his condition had deteriorated to the point that his doctors referred him for heart/lung transplant assessment.

Because doctors had documented serious infections in the boy’s lungs, and because aggressive IV antibiotic therapy administered by the boy’s doctors had proven to be futile, his parents began to look into alternative remedies for the infection.

Small Daily Amounts of Colloidal Silver Eliminated His Lung Infections and Restored His Life

On the internet, his parents found information about colloidal silver and began treating their son with small daily amounts, approximately 1/2 teaspoonful, twice a day.

According to the study authors below, “Over the next three months the patient achieved a sustained improvement in symptoms, which persisted following weaning from oral steroids, nebulized antibiotics and regular asthma medications.

In other words, thanks to the success of the colloidal silver usage, the boy’s parents were able to start weaning their child off of the harsh prescription antibiotic drugs.

The boy enjoyed what his doctors called “a sustained improvement in symptoms,” and was able to enjoy a skiing holiday, full participation in school rugby matches and even “significant improvements in his golf handicap.”

In other words, the boy went from being barely able to breathe, to returning to an almost normal, active boyhood life!

The child apparently had one further relapse after experiencing a “temporary interruption of colloidal silver [usage] for a month.” Then, according to the doctors, “He has remained well for a further six months after resuming colloidal silver, with no other changes in his routine care.

Doctors Cautious About Recommending Colloidal Silver for Cystic Fibrosis in Spite of the Evidence

The doctors, of course, are duly cautious about recommending colloidal silver usage for Cystic Fibrosis patients, even though it was they who documented the child’s startling recovery from the severe symptoms of the disease.

Nevertheless, the case represents another pointed example of what colloidal silver users have been saying for decades, i.e., Colloidal silver kills many infections better than prescription antibiotic drugs.

For example, you can read my wife’s story of how colloidal silver usage saved her toes from surgical amputation when she contracted osteomyelitis, a serious bone infection, back in 1994. She too had been aggressively treated to no avail with antibiotics, including IV antibiotics, before discovering colloidal silver.

On the internet, there are numerous other accounts of astonishing recoveries from serious, antibiotic-resistant infections using colloidal silver, including 82-year old David Sharman’s account of curing a potentially deadly, hospital-acquired MRSA infection with colloidal silver after doctor’s sent him home from the hospital with no hope. (You can read about four other medical studies documenting the powerful infection-fighting qualities of colloidal silver against antibiotic-resistant MRSA at the link in this paragraph.)

What’s more, numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of colloidal silver against a variety of serious viral infections, too.

And a recent study documents colloidal silver effectiveness against fungal infections, even demonstrating it to be more powerful than two of the most popular prescription anti-fungal drugs.

Colloidal Silver is Readily Available, Or Make It Yourself for Pennies Per Quart

Colloidal silver is readily available at health food stores across American for about $20 to $30 for a tiny four-ounce bottle.

One of the best things about colloidal silver, however, is that it can be made at home, very inexpensively, with a simple device called a colloidal silver generator.

For example, thousands of people around the world use the brand new Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator from The Silver Edge, which allows them to make high-quality micro-particle colloidal silver for about 36 cents a quart.

You can watch a video of how it works, here.

Medical Monopoly Continues to Shun Colloidal Silver

The medical monopoly continues to shun colloidal silver usage in favor of their own orthodox treatments and prescription drugs. Some news reports even claim that there is no medical evidence for the effectiveness of colloidal silver against infections and disease, in spite of all of the published studies which prove such a ludicrous assertion to be untrue. The truth is, medical study after medical study continues to confirm the amazing infection-fighting power of this safe and highly-effective all-natural substance.

Excerpts from “Colloidal silver for lung disease in cystic fibrosis”

Here then are some excerpts from the study “Colloidal silver for lung disease in cystic fibrosis,” published in the prestigious Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine in 2008 (J R Soc Med 2008: 101: S51–S52. DOI 10.1258/jrsm.2008.s18012):

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) families commonly consider alternative or complimentary therapies of questionable value. We report the case of a 12-year-old boy with severe CF lung complications who was treated by his family with colloidal silver.

The child was diagnosed aged two (homozygous _F508) following investigations for faltering growth. He had extensive left lower lobe bronchiectasis and positive Pseudomonas aeruginosa cultures at diagnosis. This organism persisted despite aggressive IV antibiotics, long term nebulized colomycin, bronchoscopy and a prolonged in-patient stay.

Aged three he developed pseudomembranous colitis requiring prolonged intensive care. Aged six he developed severe, steroiddependent, relapsing allergic broncho-pulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) and right mid-zone bronchiectasis. Atopic asthma also proved increasingly problematic, with evidence of sensitization and wheezing in relation to several aeroallergens, including house dust mite and cat. He had a significant step up in FEV1 after a trial of rhDNase (pulmozyme) and this drug was added to his treatment regime.

Spirometry plateaued around 60%, with frequent deteriorations caused by wheezing episodes and infective exacerbations. Aged 10 his FEV1 deteriorated to 40% predicted with severe episodic wheeze. A Brompton referral was made to consider monthly IVIG therapy (not given) and regular IV antibiotics and aggressive ABPA treatment were recommended.

Aged 11, the patient isolated Burkholderia multivorans and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia. Pulmonary status deteriorated to an FEV1 of 24%.

In March 2006, he was treated with prolonged IV and oral antibiotics, steroids and antifungals. Lung function recovered to around 40% but he remained markedly symptomatic, with persistent cough, breathlessness and wheeze after physical activity. Because of these complications he was referred for heart–lung transplant assessment.

Colloidal Silver

At the same time, the family discovered websites promoting colloidal silver for CF and purchased the product from their local health food shop. They independently commenced 2.5 mL b.i.d. of the solution in July 2006.

Over the next three months the patient achieved a sustained improvement in symptoms, which persisted following weaning from oral steroids, nebulized antibiotics and regular asthma medications.

He has continued rhDNase treatment. FEV1 peaked at 60% (Figure 1). The family declined transplant assessment.

He remained well for a year, enjoying a skiing holiday, full participation in school rugby matches and significant improvements in his golf handicap. He required only one further course of IV antibiotics until a recent deterioration coinciding with temporary interruption of colloidal silver for a month.

Whereas sputum samples had consistently isolated B. multivorans before receiving silver, there had only been one further positive isolate during the year when he received it. He has remained well for a further six months after resuming colloidal sliver, with no other changes in his routine care.

…In our case we have documented significant improvements in well-being that were temporally associated with the use of the drug [i.e., colloidal silver –ED]. However, this is a single anecdote and caution should be used in interpreting the significance of these observations.

If there was a direct clinical effect of the silver we speculate that this might have been as a result of a bactericidal action on CF pathogens, as suggested by the decreased occurrence of B. multivorans on sputum cultures. Researchers in Denmark have shown that silver is highly effective as a bactericidal agent against biofilm and planktonic models of Gram-negative organisms, including P. aeruginosa.

Currently there is no evidence to support the use of silver products in CF but their potential benefits might be worthy of further exploration. An American study has shown benefits for silver in the treatment of Burkholderia dolosa infection in a murine model of severe lung sepsis.

Further in vitro studies of the effects of silver on the organisms within CF sputa and a better understanding of safe dosaging are essential first steps in exploring the potential for this use of this treatment option.

Hi Steve--

great to hear of the success with the lungs and colloidal silver.

I have a sister at this time we are using the silver 3 times daily about 2 oz per each time.

also she was diagnoise with cancer of the lymphnode 's system. The past 3 weeks her white corpusle have increased back to normal. she has regained her strength and does not cough while laying down. sounds great.

also a question? does it make a differance in time and amounts being processed with the micro-particle silver generator? I use 1 gal of dist water and time it at 12hrs.

Your instruction indicate 1 qt for three hrs run time. can this be increased without losing quality? Thanks for anyinformation. -- Jim S

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your note, and the information on your sister's use of colloidal silver.

We'll keep her in prayer. Please keep us informed as to her condition in relation to the colloidal silver usage.

Using the Micro-Particle unit with a 1 gallon container for 12 hours is fine. I would only suggest using silver rods that are longer than those used for making a standard one-quart batch.

In other words, when you go to a gallon size production container, the silver rods should reach down to about an inch or two from the bottom of the container. You need the longer silver rods to help make up for the additional volume of water. Otherwise, you will probably get a lower ppm of silver particles when you are finished with your solution.

If you have a 5 foot roll of the pure silver wire (see this link for current prices: http://thesilveredge.com/wire.shtml), you can simply measure and snip off two lengths to fit the gallon jug.

Again, the silver wire should extend from the bottom of the generator, to about an inch or two from the bottom of the one-gallon glass production container.

If you don't have the extra silver wire, just let the unit run for some extra time, say 15 or maybe 16 hours instead of 12, for a one-gallon batch. That way, you make up for the fact that you're using "quart-size" lengths of silver wire in a "gallon size" production container.

Steve

Hello, I have one of your micro-particle generators. It was a gift from a very generous friend. Recently I saw an ad for a nebulizer delivery system for silver . Here's the website -
http://www.silverlungs.com/online_store.php

Can I put the silver that I make with the new Micro-Particle Colloidal Silver Generator in a nebulizer ?

How would you recommend that I do that?

I have a friend who lives in another state and suffers from pneumonia several times a year. If I can afford it , I would like to send her a generator.

Thank-you, Elizabeth M

Steve Barwick said...

Hi Elizabeth,

Yes, you can use the micro-particle colloidal silver with a nebulizer. I've done so many times.

We're not doctors, so by law we're not allowed to prescribe for you how to do it, in terms of dosages, etc.

I can tell you what I do, however. I simply fill the little container in the nebulizer with micro-particle colloidal silver (from a standard 7-10 ppm batch), turn the machine on, and lightly inhale the mist that comes out of the nebulizer mouthpiece, for three or four minutes at a time, once or twice a day. I only do this when I have upper respiratory infections that are dragging on and not responding to other, more conventional treatments.

Most experts agree that nebulizing colloidal silver should not be your primary way of ingesting colloidal silver. The oral route is better, in terms of ingesting silver for nutritional supplement purposes.

You have to be careful, and nebulize only in moderation, as you don't want to overdo it and end up with a lot of silver particles imbedded in your lungs. To the best of my knowledge nebulizing colloidal silver is perfectly safe, but again, it should not be your primary way of ingesting colloidal silver. If you have a naturopathic doctor, you might want to obtain guidance from him or her.

Elizabeth, when people are selling products (such as in the web site you sent the link to) they'll make all kinds of claims about safety. Or they fail to mention the fact that silver can embed itself in tissues and organs if it is used in excess. I'm not trying to scare you at all. I'm just trying to make sure you understand that nebulizing colloidal silver is not something that should be done every day. I wouldn't be without my little nebulizer. But, for example, I've probably only used it twice this entire year, once when I got a sinus infection, and once when I got an upper respiratory infection after attending an out of town business conference.

As for the specific nebulizer you sent the website link to, that one is awfully overpriced, in my opinion.

If you go online to eBay, you can get a very good Omron nebulizer (Omron is the top maker of nebulizers in the world) for under $40.

Check out this link, for example. I don't know the seller. I'm just using this as an example to show you that there are very good, top-of-the-line nebulizers available for a lot less than $120: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Omron-Comp-Air-Portable-XLT-NEBULIZER-ACCESSORIES_W0QQitemZ200393497289QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2ea8621ac9

Hi Steve,

I'm curious what FDA's review of the petition turned out? I hope they didn't get to ban the silver products?

I appreciate your book the ultimate colloidal silver manual, I know it's pretty thick but the price is still daunting to me, do you know where to look for used ones or when are you gonna have a even greater discount? Let me know.

Appreciate your blog very very much, keep up the good work.

Hey CL,

Thanks for your note.

The EPA just held three days worth of talks in Arlington VA on the nanosilver issue, and I'm waiting to hear from an attendee (a health freedom attorney) so I can find out what went on.

We threw the EPA for a loop back in January and February when we got thousands of colloidal silver users to bombard the EPA with pro-silver comments. They basically said they were going to "think about it" until summer's end. But summer's end came, and they still had not reached a conclusion on the petition to more strongly regulate silver-based products.

After Obama too office, however, he replaced many of the key people in the upper echelon of the EPA, including replacing EPA administrator Stephen Johnson with activist Lisa Jackson. So they have re-trenched and are being pretty tight-lipped about their next move.

As you probably know, in June the environmental group Friends of the Earth came out with their 26 page position paper in which the advocated a total ban on colloidal silver, and regulation of the substance as a "drug."

So they are not taking the ass-kicking we gave them in January and February laying down.

Whatever the next move of the environmentalists and the EPA turn out to be, we'll be sure to keep you informed on the blog, and via the email blast system.

Regarding the book: Sorry but can't afford to sell it any cheaper. I know it's a lot. But it's also cheaper than one of those 7-minute visits to the doctor's office.

I thought maybe someone would have a cheaper used copy on eBay, but I checked and there were only a few pamphlets on colloidal silver for $20 and up.

We are hoping by early next year to have a digital edition of the book available for digital download, for about half the current asking price, i.e., $39.99. That way you can download it straight to your computer.

Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Really appreciate you taking the time to reply. Thanks.

About your book--it IS cheaper than a doctor's visit, Touché.

I'm buying your book when my next credit card billing cycle begins unless my wife stops me and insists on we waiting for the digital edition.

Yes, please keep me informed about EPA's decision/next move thru email or your blog. Should they really ban it, what'd really cause my heart to sink, besides the vanishing of silver products from the market, would be the glimpse of the seamy side of humanity because of greed. They managed to pressure FDA to define it as a pesticide. Now they're moving on to carry out the next thing in their plot against it. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do to fight the Big Pharma, huh?

Kind Regards,
CL

Steve Barwick said...

Hi CL,

You asked, "There doesn't seem to be anything we can do to fight the Big Pharma, huh?"

Sometimes it seems like that. But I don't want to sin against hope. So I'll have to disagree.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's things looked pretty bleak, too. Big Pharma was cracking down on vitamins and mineral supplements, and the clinics of famous natural health doctors such as Dr. Jonathan Wright and others were routinely being raided, in many cases by police armed with automatic weapons and with the local FDA agent in tow.

But as the political landscape changed we managed to get the DSHEA Act of 1994 passed, which completely revolutionized the natural health community. It took a lot of the regulatory control away from the FDA, allowing nutritional supplement providers freedoms they'd never enjoyed before. This in turn brought massive innovation to the nutritional supplement market, leading to the introduction of hundreds of new supplements that had never before been available to natural health consumers.

Since then the FDA, AMA and other bureaucracies have chipped away at DSHEA, little by little. But consumers in the meantime have become extremely well educated about natural substances and natural healing. So we have once again reached what amounts to a loggerheads, i.e., bureaucrats determined to regain their lost regulatory powers (and willing to use all kinds of trickery and deception to do so) versus well-educated consumers who are insisting on their rights to use whatever natural means they want to heal or prevent illness.

Ultimately, I pray once again that natural health consumers will win out. That's why I continue to advocate for health freedom rights, whether it be in relation to colloidal silver or to natural health products in general. And it's why I continue to support health freedom organizations here in this country and around the world. I believe we can only lose if we give up.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks so much for this article, very interesting and informative. I am amazed at the many different benefits that colloidal silver has on the human body. I'm also amazed at your blog, you always have great information on this subject and I know I can always visit here to find great information.

I don't know if anone will see this comment on an old post, but I'm writing this from my mom's hospital room, sitting beside the bed where she's fighting a lung infection that hospitalized her for 10 days earlier this month. After 4 days at home, we had to call 911 to get her back over here ASAP.

A friend recently got a generator from you and has offered me some to try. He also sent a few web links and, when I ran across this post from a web search on colloidal silver for lung problems, I was glad to see it was from his referred source.

I'm trying to think through a research the possible benefits of oral silver, maybe nebulized silver, etc. Since we already have a home nebulizer, I'm wondering if should try to get some from my friend, starting her orally here in the hospital room then maybe adding an occasional nebulized version as a future deterrent. With her chronic condition (bronchiectasis), I wonder if we might need to be more aggressive than the infrequent personal inhalations Steve mentioned above.

Thanks for any thoughts from anyone.
JEFF

Steve Barwick said...

Jeff, from what I can tell from reading the Merck Manual, bronchiectasis can be caused by recurrent infections, but it can also be caused by other things. This means silver may, or may not be helpful, depending upon the cause of the disease.

I'm not a doctor so naturally I couldn't possibly "prescribe" what to do. I'd strongly recommend you talk with your mom's doctor, and show him the article on silver and cystic fibrosis.

But if it were me in this situation, I'd certainly give the colloidal silver a try. I'm not too sure about nebulizing the silver as there is some evidence that in certain rare cases lungs that have already been seriously damaged (scar tissue, etc.) can be further harmed by nebulizing silver. But if it were me I'd certainly consider trying it orally. The cystic fibrosis study offers some dosage guidelines, but they seem very low (i.e., 2.5 mL b.i.d. = half a teaspoonful twice a day).

You can obtain a FREE Colloidal Silver "Safe Dosage" Report at www.TheSilverEdge.com (see turquoise blue box in upper left hand corner of home page).

Hilarious, Silver being labled as pesticide. It means in other words legal to spray on vegetables, fruits, air and drinking water. So, legal to eat, breath like the rest of the pesticide poisoned food. How transparent is the corruption! But now without joking I suggest instead of first going to EPA/FDA, go/send the information to as many independent universities in and outside the country and let the information be spread to the public. This way it makes the FDA/EPA difficult cause the facts of results are tested and written.
