A Simple, Effective Colloidal Silver Fruit and Vegetable Wash

When you can't grow your own fruits and veggies, protect yourself from potentially harmful pathogens by cleansing your produce in a colloidal silver fruit and vegetable wash.

Use a solution of at least 5 to 10 ppm colloidal silver.

Combine the following:

1 cup of water
½ cup of vinegar
2 tsp. salt (dissolve completely)
¼ to ½ cup homemade colloidal silver

You can soak your fruits and vegetables in this solution or you can put it in a spray bottle and spray them.

Either way, let the solution remain on your food for at least five minutes before rinsing and preparing as usual.

The vinegar in this solution helps to break down any waxy substances that are applied to fruits and vegetables. Water alone will not penetrate them, in fact, many pesticides are designed to be water-resistant. Salt helps to pull out any microscopic bugs. The colloidal silver will safely kill any harmful fungal, bacterial or viral pathogens.

Avoid cross-contamination in your kitchen by washing your hands after each different food you prepare, and by taking care to sanitize any surfaces that have come in contact with raw meat or poultry. You can easily do that by spraying or washing your counter tops, cutting boards and other surfaces with this same solution, or even by using straight colloidal silver.

This colloidal silver vegetable wash is a safe, highly effective way to destroy disease-causing pathogens on your store-bought fruits and vegetables at an economical price.

Commercial fruit and vegetable washes are expensive, may not effectively kill bacteria and sometimes contain sodium laurel sulfate, a corrosive agent that degenerates human tissues.

History of the Medical Use of Silver

A short excerpt from the History of the Medical Use of Silver, published in the journal Surgical Infections, 2009...
Excerpt: "Metallic silver was known to the Chaldeans as early as 4,000 B.C.E., and it was the third metal known to be used by the Ancients, after gold and copper [1].

Over these millennia, silver has been used for numerous medical conditions, mostly empirically before the realization that microbes were the agents of infection.

The metal was used in many configurations, including vessels or containers for liquid, coins, shavings, foils, sutures, solutions (e.g., nitrate, oxide, bromide, chloride, and iodide), colloids providing fine particles, and electric colloids (introduced in 1924, which provide even smaller particles of 0.1mcm to 0.001mcm in diameter).

Electric colloids of silver became the mainstay of antimicrobial therapy in the first part of the 20th Century until the introduction of antibiotics in the early 1940s.

Complexes of silver and protein known as mild silver proteins also were employed.

These formulations were delivered topically (by solution, ointment, or direct application of colloids or foils), orally, and by injection. By 1940, at least 50 silver products were marketed in the United States."

Environmentalists: Silver Nanoparticles a Threat to Plant Life!

New study purports to demonstrate that sludge from wastewater treatment plants can contain enough nanosilver to harm the growth of plants it’s spread on…

Well, the environmentalist apparently just won’t give up.

Now they’ve conducted a new study written up in the prestigious Scientific American

…which claims to demonstrate that antimicrobial silver particles escaping into the environment from fabrics and other silver-impregnated products will end up in the sludge from wastewater treatment plants…

… and thereby pose a dire threat to any plant life the sludge gets spread on.

Since spreading wastewater sludge on crops is a big business, the environmentalists claim we might be in for some pretty meager pickings in future farming seasons due to the silver-content of the sludge.

Again, With This “Sky is Falling” Nonsense

Hmmm. This couldn’t possibly be another “sky is falling” scare tactic from the environmentalists, could it?

Only a few weeks ago environmentalists were claiming – with straight faces, mind you -- that silver-impregnated socks designed to help kill the germs that cause stinky feet are a cause of global warming.

Yes, I said global warming. They also claimed that silver is “killing the planet.”

Before that they were proclaiming silver to be “toxic to Fathead Minnows.”

I suppose before long they’ll claim that silver is a terrorist threat, and ask the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to set up airport-style TSA groping stations at stores that carry undergarments embedded with antimicrobial silver particles.

The Scam That Just Won’t Quit

For those who might want a little bit of common-sense thrown into the mix, here’s an excerpt from my online comment to the above-linked Scientific American article:

Here we go again, with the old "silver is dangerous to the environment" scam.

What’s wrong with the idea that silver might be a threat to the environment? Well, consider the following:

There are an estimated two million tons of trace silver in the world’s oceans. Yet those oceans are teeming with abundant life, both plant and animal.

There are extremely high silver content-laden soils throughout the silver mining areas of California, Colorado, Nevada, etc., yet the soils are teeming with uncountable numbers of plant and animal life.

There are extremely high silver content-laden rivers and streams, yet they too are teeming with innumerable eco-systems and bio-systems.

You could just as easily make the case that silver -- rather than being detrimental to ecology and life -- is instead essential to it.

It seems the only places silver turns out to be harmful is in the "controlled studies" conducted by environmentalist researchers.

Go figure.

Do you think the environmentalists at Scientific American will listen to reason? (Hint: Don’t hold your breath.)

Silver Aids Plant Growth

I know of dozens of people who use nanoscale colloidal silver to keep their plants healthier, and make their fruits and vegetables grow faster and stronger in their home gardens.

A non-published experiment during the last growing season demonstrated that tomato seeds planted in soil treated with small amounts of nanosilver produced 30% more sprouts than the same amount of seeds planted in non-silver-treated soil.

What’s more, the plants grew nearly twice as fast over the first 15 days of the experiment before leveling out and growing normally after that. They started out faster, and stayed larger and hardier than the plants in the non-silver-treated soil. That’s a sign of superior health. Not harm.

My wife sprayed her garden with nano-scale colloidal silver all growing season long last year, at least once every week, and sometimes twice…

…and she won a blue ribbon award for her veggies at the local fair. (Not to mention feeding me week after week all summer long with fresh organic squash, tomatoes, black berries, artichokes, cantelope and more!)

What’s more, for the first time in over 10 years of gardening, her garden was still producing crops all of the way through to early of November, well after the first frost!

I won’t even mention the pot growers who use colloidal silver to produce more potent pot buds.

Silver Protects Against Crop Blight

I've used nanoscale colloidal silver to kill mid-season tomato fungus by spraying it onto the leaves and stems of the affected plant, and spraying small amounts onto the soil at the base of the plant.

The tomato fungus is effectively obliterated and the plants grow healthier and stronger and produce beautiful fruit afterwards.

Brooks Bradley, of the Harborne Research Foundation, has stated regarding the beneficial effects of colloidal silver on plants:

“…we performed some limited, plant-oriented evaluations utilizing colloidal silver. Our initial investigation involved experiments designed to determine if colloidal silver would yield beneficial effects on ‘fire-blight’ associated with pear trees and pyracantha shrubs.

The only effective protocol we had found, prior to our colloidal silver evaluations, was the application of streptomycin (water soluble form) in an aerosol spray.

A solution of 10 ppm strength colloidal silver mixed at the rate of 1 pint colloidal silver to 2.5 gallons of water and 1/4 teaspoon household detergent was applied to affected trees (in various states of challenge, from 10% to 50% foliage involvement).

Visually detectable improvement manifested within 48 hours. Marked improvement and pathogenic stabilization evidenced within 72 hours.

New leaf growth---in former areas of heavy attack---started to appear within 7 days of the initial treatment. This protocol was repeatable (we performed it 4 times).”

Interestingly, in a 2009 study, published in the Korean journal Plant Pathology, colloidal silver nanoparticles were found to dramatically inhibit the growth of several species of a sclerotium-forming phyto-pathogenic fungus.

In other words, the silver was tested against a fungus known to infect and kill crops – particularly important crop plants such as rice, lettuce and others that feed millions of people every year globally.

The study’s authors noted:

Our data clearly demonstrated that the silver nanoparticles strongly inhibited the fungal growth and sclerotial germination growth…

…This study suggests the possibility of using silver nanoparticles as an alternative to pesticides, for sclerotium-forming phytopathogenic fungal control.”

Preserving Plant Life With Silver

Far from harming plant life, it turns out colloidal silver nanoparticles may well be an exemplary method of preserving plant life and preventing the loss of crop foods essential to mankind’s survival!

But not if the radical environmentalists here in the US get their way.

They would apparently prefer it if we had to continue using environmentally harsh chemical pesticides to control such crop-destroying fungi, rather than a safe, natural substance that came from the environment in the first place!

And last but not least, the EPA itself has stated in its own written reports on silver:

In terrestrial plants, silver concentrations are usually less than 1.0 mg/kg ash weight (equivalent to less than 0.1 mg/kg DW) and are higher in trees, shrubs, and other plants near regions of silver mining; seeds, nuts, and fruits usually contain higher silver concentrations than other plant parts.

In other words, according to the EPA it is quite normal for plants to contain silver.

And while plants, trees and shrubs growing near silver mines generally contain far higher levels of silver than other plants, it doesn’t seem to harm them –

-- they still produce seeds, nuts and fruits like any other plant. That is to say, they still propagate successfully. The only difference being, the seeds, nuts and fruits contain higher levels of silver!

Hmmm. Maybe I’ll move to silver-mining country and get my seeds, nuts and fruits there!

Beware the Progress-Robbing Neo-Luddite Mentality

The radical environmentalists are always crying "The sky is falling."

They just can't help it. The spirit of the progress-fearing Luddites of old is alive and well in them.

God help us all due to the breakthroughs we could enjoy, were it not for certain radical environmentalist spoilers posing as saviors, while continuously mucking up progress.

Another New Study Demonstrates the Protective Effects of Silver on Human Cells

While radical U.S. environmental researchers are working overtime to create the illusion that silver nanoparticles are harmful to human cells…

…in order to justify their efforts to have silver-based products heavily regulated or even banned…

…researchers from other parts of the world are re-discovering the fact that silver nanoparticles actually PROTECT AND HEAL human cells.

New Study Shows Silver
Protects Cells from Alcohol Toxicity

In the article at this link, you'll learn that researchers from the Department of Cell Biology, Immunology and Neurosciences of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona, along with researchers from several other institutes, have discovered that very small numbers of silver atoms can protect cells against damage caused by ethanol.

The most obvious use for this discovery is in aiding the healing of damage to cells and tissues caused by alcoholism.

According to the article:

The results of the study show that these clusters of small numbers of silver atoms catalyze ethanol oxidation at similar concentrations to those found in the blood of alcoholics and at values of membrane potential and pH that are compatible with those exhibited by mammalian cells," explains Gustavo Egea, a professor with the Department of Cell Biology, Immunology and Neurosciences of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona.

In other words, silver seems to neutralize the damage to cells caused by ethanol alcohol. Again, according to the article:

Alcohol has particularly harmful effects on nerve cells, and in the specific case of astrocytes it induces programmed cell-death and an alteration of the actin cytoskeleton.

Following application of the silver nanoparticles to ethanol-exposed cells, the actin cytoskeleton shows marked improvements and cell-death does not occur.

So, the harmful effect of ethanol on astrocytes is mitigated by the silver nanoparticles, which act as a cytoprotective agent,” explains Javier Selva, a lecturer with the Department of Cell Biology, Immunology and Neuroscience and first author of the paper.

Of course, the term "cytoprotective agent" means the silver protects the cells. This is the exact opposite of what environmental researchers are trying to prove.

The article continues:

The study combines analysis of the electrocatalytic properties of silver nanoparticles with examination of their potential biological applications.

"This is a promising field in electrochemistry applied to cell biology, which harnesses the different properties of nanoparticles formed by very small numbers of atoms, referred to generically as atomic clusters," explains Gustavo Egea.

The article concludes:

The authors have also found that the [silver] nanoparticles prevent alterations induced by other primary alcohols such as methanol and butanol…

So, silver can help protect cells from damage caused by other primary alcohols, as well as ethanol.

This new discovery regarding the protective effects of silver on cells exposed to excessive amounts of alcohol may one day even help in mitigating the serious disabilities in babies affected by fetal alchohol syndrome…

…"a disease that develops in some unborn babies when the mother consumes excessive levels of alcohol and which leads to a range of severe neurological disorders."

Nothing New Under the Sun

Of course, for those who have studied the healing power of silver for any length of time, this new information comes as no surprise.

After all, silver’s healing effects have been known for centuries, and have been “re-discovered” by enterprising researchers many times.

In fact, back in the early 1980's it was Dr. Robert O. Becker, M.D., of Syracuse Medical University, who documented the fact that electrically generated silver ions have the remarkable ability to trigger tissue healing in wounds, and even cause cancerous cells to revert to non-cancerous cells.

Silver sulfadiazine cream was also developed during the 1980s. This is a prescription silver-based cream also known as Silvadene. It’s been used for decades now in hospitals and medical clinics to prevent infection and to trigger healing of cells and tissues in the skin of severe burn victims.

What’s more, the above-referenced study on the cell-protective effects of silver nanoparticles comes on the heels of another study from last year…

…which demonstrated that silver nanoparticles can also help prevent blood clotting without causing harm to blood cells. See this link.

What the Environmentalists Don’t
Want You To Understand…

So much for the efforts of the environmentalists to tarnish silver's reputation by claiming it is "toxic" to human cells.

Listen, here’s what the anti-silver environmentalists don’t want you to understand:

Everything is "toxic to human cells" in some amount. Even water. It’s all dose dependent.

If, for example, you soak mammalian cells in pure distilled water, it kills them. Yet if those cells don’t get small to moderate amounts of water each day, they wither and die.

In short, water is both deadly to, and vital to, all cellular life.

Yet no one is calling for a ban on water due to its toxic effects on cells at high levels.

But when simian-brained environmentalists conduct research projects in which they drench cells in excessively high concentrations of silver nanoparticles

…they end up joyously proclaiming that they’ve “proven silver’s cytotoxic effects”…

…and they immediately begin sounding the clarion call to have silver-based products banned – including colloidal silver!

Yet, as everyone knows by now, when small to moderate amounts of silver are used on cuts, burns, wounds and infections, remarkable cellular healing and rejuvenation takes place.

This has been known for over a century. And in that time countless lives have been saved by silver…countless men, women and children have experienced its healing power.

But by focusing their research solely on silver’s toxicity at excessively high levels, the environmentalists seek to create a consensus that silver-based products should be banned, and extreme regulatory sanctions set into place.

It is time to tell the environmentalists to take their deceptive and biased research, and dump it into the East River.

Leave silver research to the silver experts who are working to bring knowledge of silver’s manifold benefits to the public.

The Therapeutic Value of Soluble Silver

An excerpt from a very old treatise on colloidal silver titled "The Therapeutic Value of Soluble Silver," from the May 6, 1899 issue of the medical journal, Medical Review...

Excerpt: "From Crede’s practice scores of cases have been reported in which this treatment attained marvelous results in various forms of septic infection. Werler, of Berlin, regards it as almost a specific in acute and chronic sepsis. Wolfran, of Magdeburg-Buchan, finds it a valuable agent in acute and chronic infections. In chronic furunculosis particularly have the results been most gratifying. Dr. Shirmer, of New York, reported several cases of cerebro-spinal meningitis cured by daily inunctions. Seabury Jones has reported a remarkable case of puerperal sepsis which rapidly subsided under this treatment. Crede states that he has had no deaths from sepsis in his surgical hospital since the introduction of silver salts and colloidal silver. There seems, therefore to be quite a large number of clinical cases reported to induce the clinician to give this medicament a trial. It is stated that eight to twelve hours after the inunction the temperature falls and all symptoms of sepsis become ameliorated.”
