Colloidal Silver Blue Man Paul Karason Dies

Since 2008 when he first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Paul Karason, the so-called “colloidal silver blue man” became the poster boy for argyria, the rare condition in which the skin becomes stained gray or blue due to excessive consumption of silver.

Internet sites dubbed him “Papa Smurf”…late night comedians poked fun at him… television news programs created a circus sideshow freak atmosphere around him…and colloidal silver naysayers used him as an example of what will (supposedly) happen to you should you even so much as glance sideways at a bottle of colloidal silver.

But through it all, Karason remained the ultimate gentleman, always optimistically cheerful and quick-witted, with a self-deprecating sense of humor that won the hearts of many.  His death from heart disease, apparently due to his heavy tobacco smoking, was unrelated to his colloidal silver usage.  His passing saddens us all.

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for www.TheSilverEdge.com...

You’ve probably heard by now that Paul Karason, the so-called ‘colloidal silver blue man,” passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013, at 62 years old, after suffering a heart attack followed by a stroke.

This, according to an article on NBCNews.com’s Today Health website.

You’ll likely also remember that Karason’s rise to television and internet media fame back in 2008 largely took place after his original appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show, in which he admitted that it was his excessive, long-term usage of colloidal silver that turned his facial skin blue.

What Causes Argyria?

The blue skin-staining from excessive ingestion of silver substances over long periods of time is a condition known as argyria.

The condition typically results after months or years of abusive usage of colloidal silver or related silver products, in which higher levels of silver are ingested on a regular basis than the body’s normal channels of elimination can handle.

The excess silver particles gradually get pushed out to the skin by the body in an attempt to eliminate them.  That’s because the skin is the body’s third major organ of elimination after the liver and kidneys.

But once those silver particles reach the skin, they remain trapped there, and become “tarnished” upon exposure to sunlight.  This “tarnish” – much like a photographic process -- is what stains the skin a gray or bluish color.

While argyria is considered to be extremely rare – 20 or 30 documented cases in the last 20 years, compared to literally millions of responsible colloidal silver users who have suffered no problems whatsoever – it is nevertheless cosmetically unappealing.

Most importantly of all, argyria is usually quite permanent.  However, there have been a few cases in recent years in which a form of laser tattoo removal has effectively cleared the skin of some argyria victims if the condition was not severe.

This is why I constantly write about the need to use colloidal silver safely, sanely and responsibly.  (See here, for example.)

And it’s why I have no trouble lambasting those internet sites that claim you can drink all of the colloidal silver you want without fear of consequences.  It’s simply not true.

Here’s the truth:

While colloidal silver, when used in moderation, has one of the safest toxicological profiles of any nutritional supplement on the face of the earth, the long-term abusive use of colloidal silver will sooner or later bite you in the butt by causing argyria.

And the past five years of Mr. Karason’s life have been a public testimony to that fact.

Karason’s Medical Problems Not Caused By Silver

Karason’s original appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show was followed by repeat appearances on MSNBC’s The Today Show

His story was also featured in literally hundreds of news articles in print publications, as well as in online news sources from around the world.

When some news stories suggested Mr. Karason’s health was in grave danger from his excessive usage of colloidal silver, the MSNBC Today Show had Mr. Karason undergo an extensive series of medical tests looking for signs of silver-induced toxicity.

But after examining the results of his medical tests, Karason’s doctor had to admit that other than the argyric skin-staining, he could find no additional medical problems that could be attributed to the silver.

Karason’s blood work was normal.  His kidney and liver function were normal. And there were no signs of toxicity.

In short, the only consequence of his long-term and abusive use of colloidal silver was the argyric skin-staining.

Was Heavy Smoking a Contributing Factor?

According to Karason’s widow, he was a very heavy tobacco smoker.

This apparently led to his recent battle with heart disease and ultimately to his premature death, just as it has with so many tens of millions of heavy smokers around the world.

But could his heavy tobacco smoking have also led to his argyric skin-staining?  That’s an interesting question.  Of course, there’s no way to know for sure.  But consider this:

According to the “Quit Smoking” page on About.com, “Cigarette smoking speeds up the production of free radicals which in turn depletes levels of important antioxidants in the body.”

This is vital to understand, because the body’s ability to effectively metabolize, process and eliminate silver depends in large part upon the presence of key antioxidant nutrients such as:

  • Vitamin E (which tobacco smoking is known to deplete from the body’s tissues)
  • Selenium (which tobacco smoking is known to deplete)
  • And glutathione (which benzenes and cadmium from tobacco smoking are known to deplete)

So the very same antioxidant nutrients known to be needed by the human body in the metabolism, processing and elimination of silver are regularly depleted from the body by heavy tobacco smoking.

So if smoking depletes these key antioxidant nutrients, it is at least theoretically possible that Mr. Karason’s heavy tobacco smoking may well have contributed not only to his heart disease, but also to his body’s inability to fully rid itself of the excessive levels of silver he was consuming.

Though I admit there are no clinical studies to back-up my conjecture, it would nevertheless seem prudent that colloidal silver users might also want to take steps to limit activities such as heavy tobacco smoking, since this is known to deplete the body’s levels of the key nutrient antioxidants needed to metabolize and process silver.

At the very least, regular colloidal silver users should take heed, and make sure their diet contains plenty of the key antioxidant nutrients known to help the body effectively metabolize silver such as vitamin E, selenium and N-acetyl-cysteine (which helps increase the body’s stores of glutathione).

As Dr. Jonathan Wright, M.D., has pointed out regarding colloidal silver and antioxidants in the past:

“Silver belongs to the family of metals that also includes copper and gold (both of which can also have numerous health benefits when they're used properly).

One of the primary concerns people tend to have about using these metals is the risk that they'll accumulate in the body and lead to heavy metal toxicity.

But if you have plenty of antioxidants in your diet, such as selenium, vitamin E, and amino acids like N-acetyl cysteine, you're safe from any harmful effects from this family of metals. Germs, however, are not."

Let a word to the wise be sufficient.

Excessive Colloidal Silver Usage
v/s Safe, Sane and Responsible Usage

Over the years I've written extensively about Paul Karason, as well as on the subject of argyria, and on the need to use colloidal silver safely, sanely and responsibly.

The main thing I’ll always remember about Paul Karason was his gracious attitude, and the charming humor he displayed when talking about his argyric skin condition.

He openly admitted he was making highly-concentrated solutions of colloidal silver using salt as an accelerant to boost the concentration far above normal levels

And by his own admission he was drinking between 10 to 20 ounces per day of this highly-concentrated colloidal silver chloride solution. Indeed, he apparently did so daily for over 10 years before his facial skin began to turn blue.

Not only that, but according to televised accounts of his colloidal silver usage, he admits he was also vigorously rubbing this concentrated colloidal silver chloride solution into his facial skin each day, in an attempt to overcome a perceived skin condition.

Of course, a normal oral dosage of colloidal silver is about a teaspoonful, which can be taken up to several times a day when sick. And a normal concentration of colloidal silver is about 10 ppm.

What’s more, topical usage of colloidal silver is generally limited to occasional need, such as for relief from cuts, burns, bug bites, and topical fungal and bacterial infections such as athlete’s foot, toenail fungus or even MRSA.

So not only was this gentleman’s homemade colloidal silver far more concentrated than normal (based on the colloidal silver solution he displayed on national television, I'd estimate it was about 100 ppm or higher -- i.e., 10x the normal concentration)…

…but he was also drinking dozens of times the normal daily dosage of colloidal silver (i.e., he was drinking 10-20 ounces a day rather than a few teaspoons full per day).

And then he also rubbed these highly concentrated silver solutions into his facial skin as well, which later turned blue.

The lesson to be learned from Paul Karason’s life as the “colloidal silver blue man” is that excessive and abusive usage of colloidal silver does indeed have consequences, just as excessive usage of any natural substance inevitably will.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Paul Karason.  We do hope the news media will finally let the man have his peace.  And we ask the colloidal silver naysayers to at least show him some modicum of respect in his death.

May he always be remembered for his shy, quiet charm, his wit, and his willingness to come clean and publicly admit that he caused his own problem through his long-term abusive usage of colloidal silver.

How Much Colloidal Silver Can You Take Safely Each Day?

The most frequently asked question I get is “How much colloidal silver can I take safely each day?”

Of course, the answer varies from person to person.  It depends upon a number of factors, including body weight, overall health, and even antioxidant levels.

I personally like the Silver Safety Guideline published by the Silver Safety Council, which I discuss below.

They have a very conservative method for calculating your maximum daily safe dosage level for a lifetime of colloidal silver usage.

Here’s what they recommend…

Hi, Steve Barwick here, for www.TheSilverEdge.com...

According to the Silver Safety Council, the formula for determining your maximum safe dosage level if you plan on using colloidal silver DAILY as a nutritional supplement is as follows:

First, multiply your body weight by 12.  And then divide that total by the ppm of the colloidal silver solution you're using.

This will tell you how many DROPS (i.e., from an eye dropper) of colloidal silver you can take each day, safely, for a lifetime, without fear of ending up with argyria (i.e., skin-staining).

For example, if you're 125 pounds, and you're using a 10 ppm colloidal silver solution, you'd multiply 12 times 125 = 1,500.  Then divide 1,500 by 10 (ppm), which is 150.

So at a body weight of 125 pounds, you can safely take 150 drops of colloidal silver per day, for your entire life, according to the Silver Safety Council. That's a little bit over a teaspoonful a day.

My Personal Daily Dosage

Obviously, people have taken more colloidal silver than that, daily, for years on end – and have done so without incurring any harm.

For example, I'm tall and nearly 240 pounds.  So my daily dosage should be about two teaspoons full, based upon the Silver Safety Council’s conservative calculation.

But I take about an ounce of colloidal silver daily, and I've done so for nearly 20 years as part of my ongoing nutritional supplement regimen.

However, I also take regular "colloidal silver holidays" during which I purposely abstain from colloidal silver usage for a week or two – sometimes even for a month or two.

And regardless of whether or not I’m taking colloidal silver, I always drink plenty of fresh, pure water each day to help flush any excess silver from my system.

What's more, I always take a daily multi-vitamin/mineral supplement that includes 400 IU of Vitamin E, 200 mcg of selenium, and about 500 mg of NAC (N-acetyl cysteine).

Why?  Because cutting edge medical practitioners like Dr. Jonathan Wright, M.D. say these particular antioxidant supplements are necessary to help process silver out of the body effectively.

As Dr. Wright has written previously:

"Silver belongs to the family of metals that also includes copper and gold (both of which can also have numerous health benefits when they're used properly).

-- Dr. Jonathan Wright, MD

Naturally, Dr. Wright is not saying you can take all of the colloidal silver you want, as long as you have plenty of antioxidants in your diet.

He’s simply saying the body requires antioxidants in order to process silver effectively.  And if you’re low on antioxidants, you’re at greater risk of silver accumulation, even at normal daily dosage levels.

The bottom line is that I take great pains to make sure my regular colloidal silver usage – though slightly above average for my body weight – does not become abusive

Just Trying to Make a Point

So please understand: I'm not trying to dictate how much colloidal silver anyone can use. It's not my business.

Some people tell me they’re taking anywhere from four ounces, to six ounces, to eight ounces, or even 16 ounces of colloidal silver a day.  If you want to abuse your body and take big risks by ingesting astronomically larger than recommended dosages like that, that's up to you.

Just be sure you're willing to take personal responsibility for it. Once you end up with argyria – the blue-gray skin-staining that typifies long-term excessive usage of colloidal silver – you can't switch gears and start blaming others for it.

So what I am trying to do is this:  Make the point that when people say they're taking 4 ounces, or 6 ounces, or 8 ounces or in some cases even 16 ounces of colloidal silver per day…

…and they've been doing this for months on end when a responsible daily dosage would be closer to somewhere between a teaspoonful and an ounce a day…

…then it's clear to me they're operating WAY outside of the bounds of safety (and sanity) in terms of the very real risk of ending up with argyria.

Those kinds of overly-high dosage levels – which are 400%, 600%, 800% and even higher than normal levels – are not just excessive. They're downright abusive, particularly when taken regularly, over long periods of time.

Another Colloidal Silver Blue Man

I spent nearly a half hour on the phone today with an elderly colloidal silver user who's face and neck are now colored, in his own words, "pastel blue."

It was heart-breaking. He says children snicker at him in the stores.  People stare at him in wonderment everywhere he goes and point fingers at him.

And nurses have actually stopped him on the street and asked if they can call him an ambulance, thinking he's suffering from cardiac hypoxia -- i.e., lack of oxygen to the body when the heart isn't pumping strongly enough, which can cause the face to turn blue.

How did he end up in that condition?  Well, his heart is just fine.  But he drank a quart of colloidal silver a day, he told me, for two years straight.

And why?  Because someone told him you can drink all of the colloidal silver you want and it can't hurt you.

Listen to me, please.  Argyria from excessive, daily long-term colloidal silver usage is very real.  It’s not a joking matter.  And it will change your life forever, and most definitely not for the better.

What’s more, it doesn't matter what kind of colloidal silver you're taking. Don't let anyone ever tell you they have a special kind of colloidal silver that "can't cause argyria."  It's a crock.

There’s simply no such thing as a form of colloidal silver that can’t cause argyria if used at excessive levels for long periods of time.

They key to successful colloidal silver usage – regardless of which kind you use -- is the responsible use of the substance.

Safe, Sane and Responsible Usage

I've been a very vocal advocate for the safe, sane and responsible usage of colloidal silver for nearly 20 years now, ever since colloidal silver saved my wife’s toes from amputation after she came down with a nasty bone infection called osteomyelitis.

Colloidal silver has also been a very successful mainstay in my daily nutritional supplement regimen for chronic fatigue syndrome – a condition I had previously suffered horrifically from.

What’s more, I’ve seen colloidal silver used as a nutritional adjunct to help the body heal literally hundreds of incidences of infection and disease over the past 20 years, like those you’ll find at the Colloidal Silver Success Stories website.

But over these past 20 years, I’ve also seen a handful of cases of arygria – sometimes in people who drank as little as four or five ounces of colloidal silver a day, for only a few short years in a row.

Listen, there’s ZERO need to take such excessive daily amounts of colloidal silver for months and years on end.  A few days here and there, when really needed, perhaps

But if you have a health condition and you're taking huge amounts of colloidal silver as a nutritional adjunct for it, and you’re doing so for months and years on end, and it hasn't helped your body heal itself of that condition...guess what?  It ISN'T going to!

You're taking the silver for NOTHING.  And you're putting yourself at big risk for argyria.  And if you’ll just be honest with yourself, you’ll see that you really need re-evaluate your obsessive desire to take so much of this otherwise very beneficial substance.

I’m Staggered

I don't know what else I can say.

I'm absolutely staggered by some of the things I've seen posted on the internet lately from people taking huge amounts of colloidal silver on a daily basis for months or even years on end, and worse yet, urging other people to do the same.

When I gently chastised one of these abusive users of colloidal silver, recently, I was brusquely informed by him, “I’ve done my research.  I know what I’m doing.  I’m convinced taking this much colloidal silver is safe for me.”

Well, so be it.  As Forest Gump says, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

In another instance, a man who was clearly in the beginning stages of argyria on his face and neck was confronted by a friend of mine and handed a copy of the Colloidal Silver Safe Dosage Report.  The man threw the report down and, after admitting he was taking high daily dosages of a super-concentrated colloidal silver solution, said, “I’ve read that report.  It’s crap.  I know what I’m doing.”

Well, I know what he’s doing, too.  He’s turning himself blue from taking huge daily dosages of colloidal silver.

Very Real Dangers

As a long-time vocal advocate of responsible colloidal silver usage, I’ve written emphatically about the dangers of excessive colloidal silver usage over and over and over again.

And I’ve even posted the well-known clinical study on argyria, titled “Exposure-Related Health Effects of Silver and Silver Compounds: A Review,” here

I’ve also repeatedly tried to make the point that if you started taking two vitamin tablets a day, and they helped you feel better, you're not going to increase your dosage to half a bottle of vitamin tablets a day, right?

I think just about everyone would agree it would be crazy to take such an excessive amount of vitamins.  So why in the world would you take 100 or 200 times the normal amount of colloidal silver each day?

That’s NOT safe, NOT sane, and NOT responsible.  It’s obsessive

So if you’re one of those people who are taking such large daily amounts of colloidal silver, and intend to keep on doing so, please reconsider.  That's all I can ask of you.

If you haven’t done so already, you can learn more about the safe, sane and responsible usage of colloidal silver by obtaining a FREE copy of the Colloidal Silver Safe Dosage Report

Meanwhile, I’ll be back next week with another great article on colloidal silver.

Yours for the safe, sane and responsible use of colloidal silver,

Avoiding Argyria and Other Side Effects When Taking Colloidal Silver: The Simple Solution

Understanding proper dosage levels of colloidal silver can help you avoid problems with potential side effects such as argyria…

Some colloidal silver vendors claim colloidal silver is safe at any dosage.

But they have absolutely no credible evidence whatsoever with which to back up that claim.

All nutrients can cause serious side effects in the human body when ingested at excessive levels for prolonged periods of time. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Therefore, it is imperative for nutritional supplement users to understand the safe, sane and responsible usage of any nutritional supplement – including colloidal silver -- so obvious risks can be avoided while the full healthful benefits of the nutritional supplement are enjoyed.

It is now known, for example, that:

· Excessive intake of the mineral iron can, over time, result in cirrhosis of the liver and heart failure.

· Excessive intake of calcium can, over time, result in kidney malfunction, calcification of soft tissue within the body, cellular toxicity and impaired immune function.

· Excessive intake Vitamin A can, over time, result in muscle pain, fatigue, irritability, depression, schizophrenia, fever, liver damage and anemia.

I could go on and on, listing the potential and very real side effects of nutrient after nutrient, when used in excessive quantities over prolonged periods.

But I think you get the point.

What can we say, then, about the risk of side effects?

Do we stop using nutritional supplements altogether, simply because there are risks involved in taking excessive amounts for prolonged periods of time?

Of course not.

Obviously, considering the well-known healthful benefits of such nutrients to the human body, it is imperative to understand the proper dosage levels for enjoying their healthful benefits while avoiding the pitfalls of excessive ingestion.

This is as true for colloidal silver as it is for any nutritional supplement.

Argyria: The Rare But Very Real Side Effect
of Excessive Colloidal Silver Usage

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the risk of argyria (i.e., skin graying) the most well-known – albeit extremely rare –- risk of excessive colloidal silver usage.

Medical researchers Hill and Pillsbury stated back in 1939, “The ordinary clinical use of colloidal silver compounds practically never gives rise to any gross untoward effect other than argyria [i.e., skin graying –ED].”

In other words, according to these early researchers, except for the possibility of skin graying there are very few unwanted side effects from silver usage.

After studying silver in the water supply, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also concluded that risk of any kind of toxicity from silver intake is considered to be very low, and that argyria (skin graying) is the main potential risk of excessive ingestion of silver.

Here’s an excerpt from what EPA has stated in their document titled “Silver (CASRN 7440-22-4)”:

“The critical effect in humans ingesting silver is argyria, a medically benign but permanent bluish-gray discoloration of the skin.

Argyria results from the deposition of silver in the dermis and also from silver-induced production of melanin.

Although silver has been shown to be uniformly deposited in exposed and unexposed areas, the increased pigmentation becomes more pronounced in areas exposed to sunlight due to photoactivated reduction of the metal.

Although the deposition of silver is permanent, it is not associated with any adverse health effects. No pathologic changes or inflammatory reactions have been shown to result from silver deposition.

Silver compounds have been employed for medical uses for centuries. In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, silver arsphenamine was used in the treatment of syphillis; more recently it has been used as an astringent in topical preparations.

While argyria occurred more commonly before the development of antibiotics, it is now a rare occurrence. Greene and Su (1987) have published a review of argyria.”

In other words, in those rare instances when silver is ingested in large enough quantities and for long enough time periods to cause argyria, the condition by itself is not associated with actual risks to human health.

The skin graying is considered to be strictly cosmetic.

In another EPA report on drinking water (report ECAO-CIN-026 revised Jan.1991- Section VI, pages VI-1), the EPA states, “There is no evidence that argyria alone is associated with any adverse effects other than the pigmentation.”

Again, the main risk of excessive silver consumption over prolonged periods of time is argyria (skin graying), and argyria is not associated with any other adverse health effects.

If you think about it, this makes silver one of the safest of all nutritional supplements from a toxicological point of view!

According to these experts, the main side effect of taking excessive amounts is strictly cosmetic, rather than detrimental to one’s health and well-being.

Silver Dosage and Risk of Argyria

Nevertheless, just as it’s important to determine the proper daily dosage of other nutrients in order to capitalize on their healthful benefits while avoiding side effects associated with their excessive usage –

-- so it is imperative to determine the proper daily dosage of colloidal silver necessary to enjoy its immune-boosting and infection-fighting benefits while avoiding the one potential side effect of excessive usage, argyria.

To that end, through its “Integrated Risk Information System” (IRIS), the EPA has conducted a complete and comprehensive analysis of silver toxicity in the body.

In this risk assessment document, they have referenced substantial published medical and scientific studies, and they’ve commented on the conclusions drawn from those studies, in relation to potential risks of toxicity from the ingestion of silver.

This EPA document establishes the minimum amount of silver required via ingestion for a person to be placed at risk for argyria. It also gives conservative users of oral silver products a definitive answer to the question: How much can be safely consumed?

Basically, the smallest amount of silver known to cause argyria in adults, from the use of any silver compound (including silver salts) is 900 mg of silver taken orally in one year.

According to the medical literature and anecdotal reports, other people have taken much more silver than that, orally or intravenously, and for longer periods of time, without contracting argyria.

But in calculating their official daily dietary exposure levels for silver, the EPA very conservatively chose to use the smallest known amount of silver that has ever caused argyria in an adult human being over a given period of time.

According to the book, Colloidal Silver: A Literature Review: Medical Uses, Toxicology & Manufacture by John Hill, D.C., in order to reach an intake level of 900 mg. of silver over a year, an individual would have to consume a whopping three hundred and eighty 8 oz. bottles of 10 PPM colloidal silver product during the course of the year.

That would be the equivalent of drinking two typical four ounce bottles of colloidal silver a day, from a health food store.

Since suggested adult daily dosage on most commercial colloidal silver products is about 1 teaspoon daily, this means that an individual would have to consume nearly 48 times the normal adult dosage, each and every day for a year to reach the lowest level of silver intake ever known to cause argyria in an adult.

Colloidal Silver Safe Dosage

Indeed, EPA standards for the amount of silver that can be safely consumed in drinking water is .005 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day (EPA RED document page 2, 4th paragraph).

According to some colloidal silver advocates, this means that a normal sized adult could safely consume approximately one ounce (6 tsp) of 10 ppm colloidal silver every day for a 72 year life span and still be within the safe limits as defined by the EPA.

In the EPA RED document, the EPA goes on to state (3rd page, 4th paragraph), “The EPA does not anticipate that dietary exposure to these low levels of silver will be associated with any significant degree of risk.”

However, experts have pointed out that the .005 milligrams per kilogram of body weight claimed in the EPA RED document to be a safe level of daily silver intake includes silver from all sources, including air, water and food.

In other words, if you had significant amounts of mineral silver in your local water supply, or in the foods you eat, or even in the air you breath (for example, if there were a silver smelting plant nearby) your daily colloidal silver dosage would have to be adjusted downward correspondingly.

Since it is nearly impossible to tell how much silver might be in your local water supply, food supply, or air, this has to be estimated.

Fortunately, a company called Invision International Health Solutions has analyzed the EPA's figures, and has determined that they can be further broken down into "drops per day" formula.

They’ve determined how to calculate the amount of colloidal silver you can take daily, based upon your body weight, using the EPA’s own figures.

And then they’ve adjusted those figures to take into account the average amount of mineral silver you might also be ingesting through sources like water, food and air.

By clicking here you can get a FREE “Colloidal Silver Safe Dosage Report” explaining these simple calculations that allow you to determine your maximum daily safe dosage rate for your specific body weight, based upon the EPA’s very conservative risk assessment standards, at this link:

Using the Colloidal Silver "Blue Man" to Discredit Colloidal Silver Usage

Using the Colloidal Silver “Blue Man” to Discredit Colloidal Silver Usage

People have written to ask me what I think will happen next, in regards to the colloidal silver "blue man" story.

Undoubtedly, the saga of the colloidal silver “blue man” will likely continue to play out, as long as the corporate controlled news media are getting what they want out of it.

As mentioned in previous blog posts on this site, the corporate controlled media are using this single example of a man with a very unusual side effect, which he got from taking excessive daily dosages of colloidal silver for years on end, in order to completely discredit colloidal silver usage.

Indeed, it is obvious to everyone but the most myopic of viewers that the only beneficiaries of the colloidal silver “blue man” sideshow are the major drug companies and the corporate controlled media who rake in hundreds of millions of dollars a year running prescription drug ads for them.

Battling Against Colloidal Silver Since 1999

The drug companies have battled against colloidal silver usage for years, through their front men in the FDA. In 1999 they even tried to have colloidal silver banned by the FDA, but failed.

And every time they have attacked colloidal silver, it has only served to shine the spotlight of truth on this remarkable natural infection-fighting and immune-boosting substance. As a result, to date, the drug companies and their bureaucratic enforcement arm (FDA) have failed to stop the colloidal silver juggernaut. Indeed, today there is now an estimated 10 million colloidal silver users throughout North America alone, and millions more around the world. And the numbers are growing daily.

This is why the medicrats have switched gears. They have finally figured out that they have to be more subtle (actually, more subtil, i.e., sneaky) in their approach if they are to ever get their ban on colloidal silver through.

Emotionally-Laden Propaganada Tactics

So now they are now using emotionally-laden corporate propaganda tactics. They know they have to reach the public emotionally in order to scare them away from colloidal silver, so that once they propose to ban this powerful natural infection-fighting agent again, there won't be much resistance to the idea from the general public.

As part of this new tactic, several years back the various media shills for the medical bureaucrats started pushing the story of the Montana "blue man," Stan Jones -- even going so far as to doctor photos of him to look blue, when in reality he merely had some small patches of skin graying on his face and under his fingernails at the time.

You can read an interview with Mr. Jones on my web site which we conducted with him several years ago. Just click on the "Did Colloidal Silver Turn This Man Blue?” link, and you’ll see how the news media purposely distorted the story for their own ends, and caused Mr. Jones to lose the election to the Montana Senate seat he was running for at the time, as the Libertarian Party candidate.

Gray Skin, No Eyes

Then, shortly afterwards, the bureaucratic medical shills for the drug companies began posting photos of a small handful of argyria victims on certain medical web sites across the internet. But they purposely cut the eyes out of the people in the photos so that the argyria victims looked a hundred times more ghastly than they otherwise would have.

There was absolutely no reason to doctor those photos by cutting out the people's eyes except that it made them look like they came right out of some horrific zombie movie. It increased the emotional impact of the photos by a hundred fold.

If they had wanted to simply preserve the personal privacy of the argyria victims in the photos, they could have easily used the traditional black bar across the eyes, or used pixelation on the face to hide the people's identities. But instead, they did what had the most emotional impact on the viewers of those photos.

Then, they got certain “quackwatch”-style web sites to post links to these photos, publicizing them and claiming the argyria portrayed was the direct result of colloidal silver usage. A little detective work, however, reveals that these particular cases of argyria were caused by the usage of chemical-based prescription silver compounds such as silver nitrate, rather than properly made, electrically generated colloidal silver.

How to Manipulate the Public

Tactics like this are right out of the "how to manipulate the public" propaganda handbooks. And so today, on mainstream internet sites such as the Yahoo "Ask" pages, and many others, you can see people linking to those scary-looking photos of argyria victims, while posting wild warnings about the "dangers" of using colloidal silver. Yet not one of those victims of argyria portrayed in those photos had used properly made, electrically generated colloidal silver.

Now the drug companies have the benefit of the new "blue man," Paul Karason. He's an affable fellow. In fact, after listening to him for awhile, you can’t help but like him. And it is certainly very cool the way he continues to advocate colloidal silver.

But it is also clear the corporate media is using him to promote the idea that colloidal silver usage is dangerous, will "turn you blue," and only "kooky" people like Paul would ever dare risk using it, much less continuing to use it after they turn blue from it.

Kooks and Recluses

Have you noticed, for example, that in every single television interview with Mr. Karason, the host inevitably leads him to talk about his life-long tendency toward reclusiveness?

This is very purposeful, and a very powerful tactic. In fact, it is an emotionally-laden public relations propaganda tactic designed to impact the public psyche. It is like the "lone nut" killers they always trot out for public consumption when there are assassination attempts against major public figures, such as the JFK assassination.

By constantly harping on Paul Karason's lifelong "reclusiveness" the general public is left with the impression that only kooky "recluses" use things like colloidal silver, and they get what they deserve for not joining in with the multitudes and trusting in mainstream medicine.

And of course, the television hosts always conveniently fail to mention the fact that there has never been a recorded death or serious injury, or even a serious adverse event, from colloidal silver usage, other than the half dozen or so people every few decades who take it in excessive amounts and stain their skin.

And they certainly won't tell the public that in contrast, over 120,000 people a year are flat out killed (some would say murdered) by mainstream medicine's prescription drugs, and hundreds of thousands more are injured or suffer from serious adverse events (i.e., side effects), oftentimes permanently.

Scare Tactics: They Use Them, Because They Work

The entire idea behind the "blue man" propaganda saturation campaign is to leave the public believing that mainstream medicine is for "normal" people and is always good for you, whereas natural health is for "nuts," "kooks" and "recluses," and will ultimately hurt you.

They know they have to scare people away from even trying natural health remedies, if they are to stop the growing exodus of people from mainstream medicine. And to do so, they must portray natural health advocates as "nutty" and "kooky" and "reclusive."

And so they use these emotional P.R. and propaganda tactics, because they work better than raw force (i.e., such as outright product bans) which always triggers public resistance and resentment.

The Coming Ban on Colloidal Silver

Ultimately, however, the colloidal silver ban will come. They are just softening up the public, first. They are reducing resistance to a ban on colloidal silver, by portraying it as a substance only mentally challenged "lone nuts" would partake of.

Right now, Health Canada (the Canadian version of the FDA) is sending out public warnings about commercially sold colloidal silver products, and actively soliciting "adverse events" reports on colloidal silver from the public.

This means two things: One, they don't have any significant adverse events reports on colloidal silver in their files, so they have to actively solicit them. Two, once they have compiled some "adverse events" reports, they are planning on using them. In short, they are planning a ban on colloidal silver, and are trying to amass the "evidence" they need in support of a ban, in advance.

Of course, under normal circumstances product bans are usually the result of real "adverse events" reports that come in spontaneously and unsolicited from the public over a period of time. These reports are then investigated, and if there is evidence that the substance in question poses a danger to the public, then action is taken against that substance. But in this case the medical bureaucrats in Canada have no significant evidence against colloidal silver. So they are actually prodding the public to provide them with some.

Here in the U.S. things are getting equally dodgy behind the scenes. For example, the medical bureaucrats are going after our friends over at Utopia Silver, trying to set them up and use them as a test case in order to go after other colloidal silver vendors later.

This is called "setting up a precedent," and it is almost always the harbinger of additional bureaucratic harassment and legal maneuvering to come.

The bottom line is that colloidal silver is once again under attack. Only this time, it is from a completely different angle than the outright strong-arm attempt to ban it in 1999. This time they are using a combination of long-term emotional public relations and propaganda tactics combined with seemingly unrelated "enforcement" actions.

Codex Alimentarius and the Global “Harmonization” of Supplement Laws

My personal belief is that ultimately, this all has to do with the Codex Alimentarius process of globally "harmonizing" bureaucratic regulations concerning nutritional supplements, as well as with the coming so-called "North American Union" in which the economies and laws of Canada and the U.S. are to be merged, followed by Mexico, then Central and South America, until the corporate globalists have achieved a complete economic "Union of the Americas" that can compete with the European Union.

I know it is difficult for most people to widen their views and see things from a larger global perspective. Most people are too caught up in their daily personal lives, or in trying to figure out who is going to lose in the next episode of American Idol, to see the bigger picture. But the corporate globalists – particularly the big international drug companies -- want complete control over you, as well as your personal health and medical choices. And they are simply taking it, one step at a time.

I've stated this before, but it bears repeating: Only ten short years ago, when I used to attend the big health shows in major cities where all of the natural health companies came together to display their wares, most of the companies who came were run by former hippies, or herbalists, or were little "mom and pop" natural health care operations, or were otherwise really laid-back individuals who had a sincere interest in promoting natural health as a means of changing the world for the better.

Today, when I attend these same big health shows, they are filled with nothing but corporate suits and stuffed shirts. I'd wager that half of the companies displaying their wares at these big "natural health" events are subsidiaries of the major drug companies.

The old-timers, and the mom-and-poppers, and the sincere "Dr. Christopher" herbalist types are all being squeezed out of the picture.

Soon, the very people responsible for today’s institutional medical nightmare are going to be responsible for your natural health care choices, too. And you will only be able to get what they want to offer you. And they won't offer you anything that competes with their pharmaceutical industry "upline."

Okay. Enough ranting. The handwriting is already on the wall for those who care to see it.

In the meantime, my personal goal is to help put the means of colloidal silver production into the hands of as many American families as possible, before commercially sold colloidal silver preparations are banned altogether.

And believe me, that ban is coming.

But once you own the means of colloidal silver production, the medical bureaucrats can never take colloidal silver away from you. You can make all you want, any time you want, for just pennies per quart. In fact, you can make it so cheaply, you can literally afford to give it away to people around you who may be in need, such as friends, family members, co-workers, members of your church or fellowship, etc.

That's why I urge everybody to own a colloidal silver generator, whether you buy one from The Silver Edge, or from someone else's company. Just do yourself a favor, and get one.

As Dr. Bob Beck used to say, the only way to "take back your health" is to own the means of production. That's why he invented so many self-treatment devices. Same with Hulda Clark. Once you own the means to protect your health, you are no longer completely dependent upon the whims of the medical bureaucrats who can ban any substance, at just about any time.
